Korean Students Interested In Learning Rampak Kendang

[Unpad.ac.id, 16/07] Indonesia Nation should be grateful because own the diversity of the various tribes and different languages. This diversity is becoming the attraction for foreigners, especially Korean students who are studying the culture of Indonesia in Unpad-Ajou Summer Program or UASEP 2009.

Lectures with the theme Indonesia: A Multicultural Society is presented by Arundina Dijah Retno Pratiwi, an Unpad alumni of Anthropology Faculty. At a lecture that was held in the plenum Room Unpad Campus Jln.Dipati Ukur No 35 Bandung, Thursday (16/07), Dina, her nickname, did not only explain about culture material, but also displayed some photos and trailers for films that related to the Indonesian culture.
At this lecture, Dina who is also an instructor in the STIA LAN explained about social norms and lifestyles of the nation of Indonesia. “Indonesia has many tribes and each tribe has a cultural identity, including the custom tradition. Customs tradition as a moral and social guidelines in the community, “said Dina.
Korean students are shown photos about the Indonesian culture such as a Ngaben procession in Bali, the bride cloathing of Yogyakarta and various Indonesian arts, puppets and batik. Dina also showed the fragment of Srimpi dance, Pendet dance and Angklung games. Korean students looked stunned with the show of Indonesian arts.
“I am very interested with the culture of Indonesia. Indonesian culture is very diverse, and has many tribes, not like Korea that have only one ethnic group, “said See Sung Jin, a student at the Faculty of Public Administration Ajou University.
When asked what Indonesia art that want to be learned, Hwang Jun Young, a student at the Faculty of Electrical Ajou University said that he really wants to learn the art Rampak kendang of West Java. “I am very interested in learning Rampak kendang when I see the opening of the opening program. The movement is very attractive, “said Hwang.
His colleagues, Lee Jae hoon, a student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Ajou University said in Korea, art instruments does not as much as in Indonesia. “Korea has the arts such as gamelan in Indonesian, but the instrument not as much as gamelan in Indonesia,” said Lee.
The introduction of culture of Indonesia to students of Korea will continue by visiting Saung Angklung Udjo in the daytime. Not only that, they will also learn how to make sculptor and batik. (eh) *
