In a Meeting with Student Representatives, the Rector Says No to Tuition Increase

[Unpad.ac.id, 20/03/2013] News on single tuition rate (UKT) has now been quite overwhelming. Some assume that the new rate means increase in tuition and fees. “I can assure that there will not be any increase in the tuition you have to pay,” said the rector when meeting with student executive body representatives in his office on Wednesday (20/03).

According to him, the ministry of education and culture is now assessing adequate unit cost for every university student in regard to his/her respective study program. “We are now setting our own minimal standard. Development Fee is to be distributed evenly in eight semesters,” he added. That means that the lowest rate is Rp. 2.5 million.

For students admitted via invitation route SMUP or SBMPTN, the amount of tuition they will have to pay will depend of the faculty of study program they are enrolled in. “For example, faculty of medicine requires that every student admitted via invitation route pay Rp.95 million, plus Rp. 16 million, and divided by 8. Every student in that faculty will have to pay Rp. 13,875 million each month.” The rector added that students who are admitted via national entrance examination (SNMPTN) will only have to pay Rp. 2.5 million per month.

As for the facilities, the rector said that “they will be as good as they have always been. We are even working on improving them.”
