Unpad Inaugurated Center for Sustainable Development Goal Studies

[Unpad.ac.id, 20/05/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran inaugurated Center for Sustainable Development Goal Studies or SDGs Center to play optimal role for sustainable development agenda for better Indonesia in the future. The inauguration was held at Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Jln. Dipati Ukur 35 Bandung, Friday (20/05).

The inauguration of SDGs Center was conducted by Vice Rector of Research, Community Service, Cooperation, Innovation, and Business Unpad, Dr. Keri Lestari, S.Si., MSi., Apt representing Rector Unpad, with Prof. Emil Salim, Prof. Armida S. Alisjahbana, and Vice Rectors of Unpad at Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata.

in her speech, Director of SDGs Center Unpad, Prof. Armida S. Alisjahbana said that the establishment of SDGs Center was the idea of Rector Unpad, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, who are concern with sustainable development issues. “Also, SDGs has been main global commitment,” said Prof. Armida, Professor Unpad who is also a UN Independent Advisor for SDGs.

Meanwhile Executive Director of SDGs Center Unpad, Dr. Arief Anshory Yusuf, stated that the mission of SDGs Center Unpad is to produce policy recomendation based on research and produce innovation and strategy for achievement; to monitor progress of SDGs achievement independently; to set SDGs as mainstream field in research and policy, and; to facilitate dialogue among stake holders. The missions are targetted for Indonesia SDGs achievement vision in 20130.

After the inauguration of SDGs Center, the evet continued with panel discussion featuring experts in sustainable development from University of Indonesia, Prof. Emil Salim, and Director of King’s International Development Institute from King’s College London, Dr. Andy Sumner, and as moderator Director of Cooperation Unpad, Dr. Parikesit.*
