Pinka and Azhar Chosen To Attend Lectures at Tohoku University Japan

[Unpad.ac.id, 26/08/2016] Two students of Unpad, Dheanara Pinka (Agribusiness 2013) and Azhar Isti Hanifah (Physics 2013) will participate in Junior Year Programme in English (JYPE) from Tohoku University, Japan. Pinka will participate in fall semester program for 6 months in Agriculture, while Azhar will participate in fall and spring semester for 1 year study in Applied Physics.

JYPE is an international class program held by Tohoku University in collaboration with the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) for third year students. This program opens opportunities for students from outside Japan to take the classes at the same time to follow individual training research.

“For the fall program, outcomes of individual research training program in the form of an abstract of her research only. As for the fall and spring program, the outcome is final report of research, “Azhar said when interviewed by PR Unpad at Campus Jatinangor Rector Building, Friday (26/08).

Both are taking a course of 10 credits in the program. Courses taken were adapted to the subjects of the first Semester of FY 2016/2017, both at the department of Physics and Agribusiness. Grade from Tohoku University could be transferred to the class at Universitas Padjadjaran.

As for individual research training program, Azhar plans to conduct her thesis research related to the field of superconductors. This field is Azhar’s focus of study in the field of Material Physics. The study will be accompanied by one Professor Advisor and one assistant Professor Advisor.

“I am considering the possibility of research that can be done there. After consulting with a supervisor, I can work on a thesis in there, “said Pinka who focused her study of agricultural supply chain.

Pinka and Azhar have been given knowledge of system of lectures in Japan. Azhar believes that typically academia in Japan has a high level of discipline and greatly appreciates punctuality.

Meanwhile Pinka plans to seek more experience as an international student. “This is the first opportunity to get a feel study abroad. I do not want to be the silent student in class but one who is active as international students, “said Pinka.

Pinka and Azhar will start to JYPE program in late September. Both will leave for Japan on 26 September. *
