Opening of Central Laboratory Marks Inauguration of 18-IDB Funded Buildings in Unpad

[Unpad.ac.id, 2/12/2016] Rector Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad together with the General Director of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D., and 9th Unpad Rector Dr. H.A. Himendra Wargahadibrata, dr., Sp.An., KIC, officially opened educational buildings constructed with funds from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The inauguration is symbolic done through ribbon cutting at the Central Laboratory Building Unpad, Friday (2/12).

In his speech, Rector said, the majority of funds from the IDB is used for the provision of the facilities. Hopefully, these facilities can be utilize to support Unpad programs in enhancing the nation’s competitiveness.

“Moreover, as a legal-based educational institution, the focus now is to support nation’s competitiveness,” added Rector.

He also marked that the symbolic inauguration of the buildings is performed at the Central Laboratory Unpad as it is an important force to support researches. The facilities, however, should be more than the primary part of the activities. The spirit to carry out researches should also be synergized to promote all the various potentials in Unpad.
“We have varied scientific disciplines that should be supported for integrated and multidisciplinary researches,” said Rector.

Meanwhile, Head of the Management Unit Projects of IDB, Prof. Benny Joy, said that the IDB projects in Unpad have been initiated since 2007. The support has been used for curriculum development, skill development, and civil work. A total of 18 buildings has been erected from IDB’s funds and the Central Laboratory is one of them.

Prof. Intan Ahmad hoped that the buildings can become more than physical facility. It is more important to use them for activities through the creativity of the human resources.

”Unpad’s contributions for the nation should not only be supported by physical facilities, but also be strengthened with dynamic projects engineered in these facilities,” said Prof. Intan.

She also mentioned her expectation for the university to not only be able to produce competitive and competent graduates, but also its real contributions from the researches for the community, as highly expected from the legal-based educational institution.

“An educational educational institution should not only provide work force for available jobs, but also humans of knowledge and science to promote innovations that would lead to economic improvements,” she said.

On that occasion, Rector and General Director officially signed the the inscription Central Laboratory Building. *
