Unpad Gave 16 Scholarships for Palestinian Students to Continue Study

This commitment was realized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement by the Rector of Unpad Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad with the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Zuhair SM. Al Shun, at Gedung Pancasila Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/16).

Al Shun, witnessed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi (right) signed a Cooperation Agreement giving scholarships to 16 Palestinian students to study at Unpad, which was held at Gedung Pancasila Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/16).

“Unpad supports solidarity programs for Palestine in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution and the Asian-African Conference,” the Rector said.

The content of this collaboration is to provide opportunities for students from Palestine to continue their studies at Unpad. A total of 16 people will be given a full scholarship by Unpad to continue their under graduate studies. The results of this education are expected to be useful for building Palestine.

The signing of the agreement was carried out at a bilateral Indonesian-Palestinian consultation meeting facilitated by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The signing was witnessed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

In her remarks, Retno said Unpad together with the Indonesian Rector Forum had committed to provide scholarships for students from Palestine. “This is one of Indonesia’s efforts to prepare the young generation of Palestine,” said Retno.

For this reason, in addition to Unpad, a number of other national institutions also signed an agreement document in an effort to provide assistance to Palestine. The agreement was signed, namely: MoU of the Indonesian-Palestinian Joint Commission, Humanitarian Aid Fund for Palestine, BAZNAS-UNRWA, Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, Indonesian Rector Forum, Indonesian Embassy in Amman, and Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta. *
