Lises Unpad Performed Amazingly at Two Universities in Thailand
[unpad.ac.id, 05/14/2019] The Delegation of the Sundanese Arts Circle (Lises) of University of Padjadjaran performed at two renowned universities in Thailand, Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University and Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU), last 24 to 29 April 2019.
On Wednesday (24/4), Lises Unpad performed at the “1st Folk Contemporary Festival” at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University. At the event, the Lises Unpad delegation presented two dances namely, Ronggeng Panggung Dance and Makalangan Dance.
Lises Unpad managed to amaze the audience with its performance. Dynamic dance movements and attractive costumes made the audience give a very good appreciation. Before appearing on the festival stage, the delegation held a Helaran Dance workshop which was attended by local students. They learn the basic movements of Helaran Dance with joy and enthusiasm.
Dance workshop activities are also held at the Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University for two consecutive days, 27 and 28 April 2019. In addition to providing Sundanese dance training to local students, Lises Unpad dancers are also equipped with traditional Thai dances by dancers from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.
Tia Amalia as Chairperson of Lises Unpad said that the purpose of the workshop was not only as a cultural exchange but also as a form of introducing the richness of Indonesian culture at the international level.
On Monday (29/4), the Lises Unpad delegation again performed two dances, Ronggeng Panggung and Makalangan at the SSRU Dance Festival held at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.
Overall, the Lises Unpad delegation which participated in the dance festival in Thailand amounted to 15 people including the patron, namely ‘Pembina Lises’ who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences of Unpad Taufik Ampera, M. Hum.
The Ronggeng Panggung Dance performed at the two dance festivals in Thailand, had previously been shown at the Kagoshima Asian Youth Arts Festival in Japan, 2015. The Ronggeng Panggung Dance was created by Oga Wilantara, as a Sundanese arts activist and Lises Unpad alumni.
“The dance was created around the 90s. Ronggeng Panggung Dance as creative dance must be celebrated and introduced to the wider community, including the international community. Both Lises and Unpad are better known through their cultural arts,” said Taufik Ampera. *
