The IID 2019 event aims to introduce a national variety of product and technology innovations to the international level. These products are downstream of research products and are ready to be marketed. This year, IID was followed by 20 Innovation Leading Centers (PUI) and 6 National Universities of Science and Technology (KST-PTN) Regions in Indonesia.

The 6 KST PTNs that participated in the exhibition were Unpad KST; Maritime KST Diponegoro University; Center of Maritime Safety and Marine Installation Sepuluh November Institute of Technology, Science, Technology; and Business Incubator Bogor Institute of Agriculture, Technopark Bandung Institute of Technology; and KST University of Gadjah Mada.

Vice Chancellor for Research, Community Engagement, Cooperation, and Academic Corporation of Unpad Dr. Keri Lestari, M.Sc., revealed, “Tehdia” was chosen because it is a superior product of KST Unpad which has established partnerships with the industrial sector and already has marketing licenses from the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

In short, “Tehdia” is a product innovation of natural sweet dipping tea which is a combination of black tea leaves and stevia leaves. Tehdia is the first product containing stevia leaves to get marketing authorization from BPOM RI. So far, there are no food products that contain stevia leaves that get marketing authorization.

“The development of the Tehdia product also uses the sosioteknopreuneur model. This concept puts forward the social conditions of the community to get appropriate technology and directs the public to be involved in the entrepreneurial side of this product,” said Dr. Keri

Based on the results of research from the Unpad Faculty of Pharmacy team, “Tehdia” can control glucose levels in the blood, making it safe and good for diabetics or those who want to prevent diabetes.

Therefore, “Tehdia” was the only Unpad flagship product that was exhibited in the 2019 IID event. In this event, the Unpad delegations were Dr. Keri Lestari and Chairperson of the Business Incubation Center/Oorange of Unpad, Diana Sari, Ph.D.

Diana added, a number of visitors to the exhibition were concerned about “Tehdia” products. “The visitor’s response is good, because this is a functional tea for diabetes so it becomes a solution to overcome diabetes,” Diana said.

In addition to cooperating with the pioneers of Sister STP, Unpad also signed a pilot project Letter of Intent with three companies, namely PT. Winros Sukses Indonesia, Oscar GmbH Vertrieb Service Handles, and Ospedalia AG, Switzerland, for marketing excellent KST Unpad products that meet the standards and needs of the European community. *
