Unpad Faculty of Agriculture was established based on the Decree of the Indonesian Junior Minister of Education and Culture No. 85633/S dated 1 September 1959. As an integral part of Universitas Padjadjaran, Faculty of Agriculture has a high commitment to mobilize all of the potentials through use of modern or applicative technology to support continuous agriculture programs in national development.
Besides the core curriculum as agreed by the Indonesian Faculties of Agriculture Leader Forum, Unpad Faculty of Agriculture added local content curriculum consisting subjects that identifies and show specialty of academic programs in Faculty of Agriculture Unpad. The complete curriculum is also followed with continuous updates on course contents by benchmarking to the same academic program in other universities in Indonesia or abroad.
There are two new academic programs; they are Agro technology and Agribusiness which uses a different kind of learning compared to other academic programs. Both programs uses student centered learning (SCL) method which requires students to be more active and independent in learning where lecturers are only taking part as facilitators.
Vision:
Unpad Faculty of Agriculture have a commitment in rising the society’s welfare through education, research, and community service, for continuous agriculture development.
Mission:
* Produce religious graduates who are not only thinkers and agriculture actors, but also expertise efficient and environment friendly science and technology, skilled and reliable, care about the nation, alma mater, and villagers, also innovative in developing new technologies for the society’s welfare.
* Create conducive scientific society through education, research, and community service through scientific collaboration academic civics with institutions in regional, national, and international level.
* Conducting researches to open markets and spread efficient technology reference which suits various agro ecology conditions, in making best use of agriculture potential sources continuously to support comparative and competitive commodities through agribusiness and agro industry.
* Developing villages in implementing specific technology packages which are suitable with their physical and social cultural condition of the society. This is necessary to support village industrialization in order to add value to their products with market value potential which will finally lead to rise of income, job opportunities, and village economy activities.
* Give input to the central and regional government in determining agriculture development policies through studies about agriculture source potentials, social and cultural aspects, strategic environment changes, possible opportunities and challenges, in empowering agriculture and villagers.
