Student activities in Faculty of Communication Sciences Universitas Padjadjaran are quite dynamic. The activities are carried by student organizations or non student organizations. There are two types of student organizations, faculty and department level. Meanwhile, the activities conducted by non student organizations are like the ones hold by generation/ year of entrance, class, subject, etc. The highest student organization in Unpad Faculty of Communication Sciences Jatinangor is Student Senate, which is the executive in campus. In Unpad, there are only two faculties using the term Student Senate. In the department level whether undergraduate program (S1) or Diploma (D3) there are department student associations which is the media for academic and profession potential development, also as joint or facilitator between students in department level with the department or academic program they took.
Besides student organizations mentioned above, in Unpad Faculty of Communication Sciences there are also student activity organizations in interest, talents, social and religion. To support student academic activity, it is necessary to provide them with mass media management ability. Publication is also a media to sharpen student intellectuality through writing. In Faculty of Communication Sciences, there are several campus media like dJatinangor which was first published in 1997 and now routinely published for its readers in every three months. There is also Diurna which is lead by Journalism Students Association and then Radioland which is the internal faculty radio.
In sport, Faculty of Communication Sciences students can join Cosmic for football lovers, Baskom (Basket Fikom) which facilitates students’ interest and talent in basketball, and KAPPA (Klub Aktivis Pegiat dan Pemerhati Alam) for students who love living environment and wild life. For art, students can concentrate their interest and talent in audio-visual recording or film art in CineClub (CC), FOKUS for photography, and Kelompok Grafis Fikom (KGF) to explore graphic communication and art technique and appreciation. There is also KMF (Kelompok Musik Fikom) for developing music and event organizing skills.
Faculty of Communication Sciences students who has high social awareness can find suitable place for them in KJ-21, a medium for foster brothers or sisters to help less fortunate kids in Jatinangor and places surrounding it. While for those who choose to serve in religious organizations, there are Islam Spirituality Bureau (BKI) and Christian Catholic Students Bond (IMKK).
