Before Unpad Faculty of Fishery and Marine Sciences was opened on 7 July 2005, the existence of fishery education in Universitas Padjadjaran have existed since 40 years ago, that is since the opening of Fishery Department in Faculty of Agriculture in 1965.
The Fishery Department in Universitas Padjadjaran was basically granting the society and government’s wish, especially West Java government to develop fishery sub sector through fishery expert procurement. The experts produced hopefully can catalyze and dynamize development, especially in fishery sub sector development.
In 1996, there was only one academic program; it was the Management of Aquatic Resources (MSP), based on the Decree of Higher Education Directorate General No. 217/DIKTI/KEP/1996 on 11 July 1996. The MSP program went through until 2005/2006 academic year which was a year for transition from status upgrading from Fishery Department to Faculty of Fishery and Marine Sciences.
Vision:
To be a higher education institution which is recognized nationally and internationally, and commits to the excellence in fisheries and marine sciences areas.
Mission:
- To carry out educational management through the implementation of quality assurance principles.
- To develop research and community services to support education and the development of science and technology for the academic community specifically, and the government, and community generally.
