Cooperation conducted by Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Universitas Padjadjaran are done through Research and Cooperation Center (PURISKA) Unpad Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, based on the Decree of Dean No. 22/H6.7/Kep/FMIPA/ 2009. There is also cooperation done by departments/ academic programs in the faculty. Among the cooperation are in education, research, and community service which involves lecturers, staffs, students, and alumni from Unpad Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Below are among cooperation conducted in 2007-2008:
Domestic Cooperation
Among the cooperation in education field, there were activities to improve the quality of education process as part of service for students, such as by improving the academic quality of lecturers through supporting them to continue education to master and doctoral degree, or apprentice for all departments/ academic programs at Unpad Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The activity to support lecturers continue their education and apprentice are managed through cooperation with various universities in Indonesia like Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Pertanian Bogor, and Institut Sepuluh November Surabaya.
Meanwhile, research activities are done through lecturers’ research and also involves students in practices and final assignments, also alumni, whether in form research apprentice or post doctoral cooperation with other universities, government institutions, industry, or the society in general. Among the cooperation are with insurance industry (Bumi Putera, Beringin Life, etc.), bank industry (BNI, BTN, etc.), oil and gas industry (PT Persero Pertamina, PT Sarga & Vega), Cirebon Steam Power Plant, PT. Agronesia, PT. Biofarma, BPPT, Indonesian Research and Development Section of National Education Department (research in education, ICT, school funding, etc.), Bandung Space and Airline Agency, Atomic and Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) Serpong, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Pertanian Bogor, and Institut Sepuluh November Surabaya.
Besides that, some lecturers are funded by Unpad, Dikti, Research and Technology Ministry, also other funding in form of competitive international grants like Unpad flagship research, Young Lecturer’s Research, Basic Research, Competitive Research Grant, Research and Technology Research, Competence Grant.
In community service, Unpad Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences academic civics always try to conduct useful activities for the society. Among the activities done are:
1. Followed biotechnology workshop
2. Training for Mathematics and Natural Sciences laboratory assistants in Indonesia, in cooperation with Higher Education Directorate
3. Apprentice lectures service and research apprentice of Universitas Sriwijaya lecturers
4. Special smart/ talented class education service (CI/BI) at Banjarsari State Primary School, Bale Endah Bandung I State Junior High School, Sumedang I State High School, Bandung 3 State High School, which is a cooperative activity with Special Education Directorate, Dirjen Mandikdasmen Indonesian Republic Education Department
5. Workshop or Mathematics and Natural Sciences application module for CI/BI students attended by various schools in Bandung and surrounding places
6. Welcome visit from CI/BI SDN Makasar Jakarta students in Mathematics and Biology, continued with visit to Arboretum
7. Welcome visit from CI/BI SMPN 1 Sukabumi students to Mathematics and Biology Department
8. Welcome visit from SMA TI Lampung students to Mathematics Department
9. Computer training for sub-district office employees around the campus at Jatinangor
10. Welcome visit from Indonesian Orchid Association to Arboretum
11. Mushroom Cultivation Counseling
12. Gave Computer Network Training for teachers from Geusan Ulun Vocational School Sumedang
International Cooperation
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences also cooperated with various universities from other countries though further education programs and apprentice education, such as with University of Technology Delft Netherlands, University of Technology Twente Netherlands, University of Kyoto Japan, University of Adelaide Australia, University of Kaiserlauten German, and The Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences-Lahore Pakistan.
Lecturers and students research activity in work practice and final assignment, also alumni, whether in research apprentice or post doctoral were in cooperation with various institutions, such as University of Technology Delft Netherlands, University of Technology Twente Netherlands, University of Kyoto Japan, University of Adelaide Australia, University of Kaiserlauten German, The Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences-Lahore Pakistan, University of Malaya, Malaysia, Osaka Prefecture University, Japan, Chiba University, Japan, Groningen University, and The Netherlands.
Unpad Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is also involved in various research by gaining funds from Mobility Programme KNAW Netherlands, Joint research SPIN KNAW Netherlands, and ITSF from Japan.
