[Unpad.ac.id, 07/11/2012] Many people do not realize that prayer and effort are the main power of a man. But not for Kurniawan, the student of Faculty of Animal Husbandry of University of Padjadjaran class of 2008. He fully aware that without prayer and effort, the graduates predicate with highest 3.95 GPA of an undergraduate degree in the Graduation Ceremony I Academic Year 2012/2013 could not be achieved.
“The point is praying. Do not fear of learning or of any difficult exam, join an organization no matter how busy, undertake entrepreneurial no matter how complicated, the important key is prayer. With both of prayer and effort, insya Allah everything will be easy,” said Kurniawan who is familiar called Ikuy in the procession of Graduation Ceremony at University of Padjadjaran Campus Jln. Dipati Ukur No. 35 Bandung, Tuesday (06/11).
Furthermore, the second child from four siblings who born on 1st June 1989 also told he was not interested in livestock science at first. It is because he was more interested in mathematics. However, after plunged into this major, he realized that a lot of knowledge could be achieved as well as to be applied in the middle of the society.
“In livestock science we don’t have to wait for graduating first, but when we are still studying, we can apply our knowledge, farming and at once doing entrepreneurship” he added. Not only in livestock science, but also he admitted that during college he got valuable experience especially from the teachers who guided him to doing a research. “They taught how to have a big heart, to be a big man, to think big, and how we contributed a great deal with other people,” he said.
During college, Kurniawan also actively participated in many of Student Activity Unit (UKM), and once served as head of Student Representative Council (BPM) of Faculty of Animal Husbandry. Moreover, he also has an opportunity to write a book with one of the professor of Faculty of Animal Husbandry of University of Padjadjaran, Prof. Dr. Syafril Darana, on poultry production.
Despite having successfully got the title as a Bachelor of Animal Husbandry (S.Pt), Kurniawan himself admitted not yet satisfied with few things which related to his research titled, “Model Kurva Produksi Susu Sapi pada Pemerahan Pagi dan Siang Periode Laktasi I”. For him, still a lot of things that should be explored further to improve the research.
“I’m not yet satisfied with the research that I have done. Somehow I feel there are still many things that still need to be explored in the research,” he said. According to his major, he also kept a big hope to the country that one day Indonesia could stand alone without depending on other countries, might even be needed by other countries in the livestock science. “Hopefully, the beef self-sufficiency can be fulfilled, and as much as possible reduce the import of beef cattle, then the feedstuffs are not depending on other countries,” He said.
In the future, Kurniawan himself expect could continue his study at a higher level in master degree. Besides, his other prospect which he wants to fulfill is getting a job in a beef cattle breeding company, a tough challenge he wants to live for applying his knowledge.
