“This workshop is part of the international collaboration that Unpad and several Japanese universities organize. This is our second year. Hopefully, similar programs will be held in the following years,” said Handarto, from the Faculty of Agriculture Industrial Engineering (FTIP), who is active participant in the event.

Researchers from Japan come from Tokyo University, Kyoto University, Chiba University, Nagoya University, and Ibaraki University, to name but a few Dr. Eng. Toshio Koike and Dr. Eng. Hiroaki Furumai. As for Indonesian researchers, they are active researchers from Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) and Ministry of Agriculture Republic of Indonesia.

“Faculties involved in this event come only from FTIP. Hopefully, in the future, there will be more faculties interested and involved in such program, for the program is interdisciplinary,” Handarto added.

The collaboration goes hand in hand with Unpad’s objective to become a world class university. The program includes joint research, joint publication, joint seminar, and staff exchange, which gives spirit to Unpad’s internationalization program.
