Dean Candidates in Unpad Started Their Program Socialization

[Unpad.ac.id, 7/12/2015] The process of selection for Faculty Deans in Universitas Padjadjaran had reached to the Program Socialization. This activity was conducted in each faculty, participated by lecturers, administrative staff members, and students.

Program socialization began in Faculty of Psychology at the Psychology Campus, Jatinangor on Monday (7/12). Dean candidate for Faculty of Psychology,, Dr. Hj. Hendriati Agustiani, MSi., presented her program, moderated by Dr. Yus Nugra-ha, MA. She proposed a basic concept of Integrated Community Development Program, with the method of Intervention Mapping and the value of Silih Asah, Silih Asih, Silih Asuh. Questions, comments, and suggestions from the audience followed the presentation and all were responded by the Dr. Hendriati.

She believed that for the development of the Faculty, it was crucial to improve both individual and institutional qualities at the same time. “We must improve our individual and institutional potentials. It applies for lecturers, students, and administrative staff members, and we must make progress together,” she said.

Also present in the event were Unpad Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Arry Bainus, MA, Vice Rector of Plan-ning, Finance, and Information System, Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita, dr., SpM(K), M.Kes., PhD, Vice Rector of Research, Community Service, Cooperation, Innovation, and Business, Dr. Keri Lestari, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., and Vice Rector of Governance and Resources, Dr. Sigid Suseno, SH., M.Hum who gave his opening speech.

In his remark, Dr. Sigid said that this socialization is one of the parts of the series of selection process for Dean and Vice Dean. After the socialization, the candi-dates would take part in psychological test, medical check, substantial test on Unpad, and fit-and-proper test.

“We would conduct a scoring session for the five selection processes,” said Dr. Sigid , who was also the Head Committee of Dean and Vice Dean Selection.

In the same occasion, Rector also expressed his appreciation for the lecturers, administrative staff members, and students participating in the socialization. He said that this activity was part of the organizational developments and also an opportunity to improve the capacity of the human resources.

Meanwhile, five dean candidates for Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet) Unpad also presented their programs at the Faculty’s Aula, Monday (7/12). The candi-dates included Prof. Dr. Ir. Husmy Yurmiati, MS, Dr. Rahmat Hidayat, SPt.,M.Si., Dr. Ir. Dedi Rahmat, MS., Dr. Ir. Kurnia A Kamil, M.Agr.Sc.,M.Phil, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Ellin Herlia., MS.

Dr. Ir. Iwan Setiawan, DEA, moderated the socialization, and also present were Unpad Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad and Vice Rectors, along with lectur-ers, students, and administrative staff members of Fapet Unpad.

The first candidate, Prof. Ellin Herlia delivered her presentation on improving the quality of the Faculty. One of her ideas was to establish management review. Also, she showed her concern on the implementation of the higher education curriculum that referred to SNPT, KKNI, and SPMI PT.

Prof. Ellin also attempted to improve the role of the assurers of the quality of human resources and graduates (through hard skills and soft skills develop-ment). Graduates were expected to create their own employment and be able to compete in the market equipped with the skill of heritage language.

Another candidate, Dr. Kurnia A. Kamil pointed out that the academia should be able to serve the communities. For that reason, we must contribute to the socie-ty. “In order to achieve it, we should be supported by several factors,” he added.

The supporting factors consisted of knowledge, competence, and good moral. One of the proposed programs was to improve the competence of the human re-sources for the development of the Faculty.
The next candidate, Prof. Husmy Yurmiati argued that one of the Faculty’s achievements was measured through the contribution to the SDGs and Nawacita. This was related to the challenged faced by Fapet Unpad now.

In her program, it was stated the importance of improving the quality of teaching and learning, research, and community service which was not only national based, but also in the international level. She proposed the foundation of the cen-ter for innovations, and enhancement of the capacity of human resources, coop-erations, and assets.

Later, Dr. Dedi Rahmat explained his vision that his program was based on the curriculum development in Fapet Unpad. “First of all, we would improve the cur-riculum which would lead us to other improvements,” he said.

In addition, he showed his attention to the increase on the participation and quality of researches and community services conducted by the lecturers in rela-tion to their expertise and skill. Besides, he also offered the attempts to improve planning, governance, and innovations.

The final candidate, Dr. Rahmat Hidayat came up with the theme “Fapet Man-taps” which stood for Fakultas Peternakan Mandiri, Transformatif, Profesional, dan Sustainable or Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Independent, Transformative, Professional, and Sustainable. He proposed three programs that included strengthening the governance of the organization, working culture, and human resource development in order to achieve transformative educational system, as well as the establishment of Science Park.

“Transformative educational system may be able to transform the students to become entrepreneurs and profession-als,” said Dr. Rahmat.*
