[Unpad.ac.id, 18/02/2016] We need not to fear the coming of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) because Indonesia is a great and wealthy country. The most important thing is how we deal with our own potential increase.

“We are creative. No need to be afraid. The important thing is istiqomah. Do not be complacent, “said Dr. Dewi Motik Pramono, M.Sc. during her lecture for Semester First Lecture of Program Study Business Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Padjadjaran University, with the theme of “Sustainable Competitive Advantage of Indonesian Tourism Industry” at Bale Santika Jatinangor, Thursday (18/02).
Dewi Motik said that since the last decade Indonesia has been confronted with globalization, in which there are no boundaries between labor, services, investment, and capital. Thus, we shall not fear MEA that ‘only’ consists of ten countries.
Thus, she advised students to continue expanding their knowledge, enhancing creativity, and not being easily satisfied. “A break may be necessary but then go back in effort and continue again to advancement,” she said.
One of the aspects on how to deal with MEA is through tourism sector. Many aspects can be expanded into tourism potential of Indonesia, starting from natural beauty to history. Dewi also advised that strong promotion strategy is needed to increase the number of visiting tourists.
She challenged the students to provide ideas or programs in enhancing the tourism potentials in West Java.
The First Lecture was opened by Head of the Program Study Business Administration Faculty of Social Sciences, Padjadjaran University, Dr. Arianis Chan, S.IP., M.Sc. During this event, new curriculum of Business Administration Unpad was introduced: featuring four elective specializations, namely Creative Business, Retail Business, Business Banking, and Business Tourism.
