19 Unpad Students As Delegation of Harvard National Model United Nation 2016

Delegasi Universitas Padjadjaran mengunjungi kantor pusat Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) yang berlokasi di New York, Amerika Serikat. *

[Unpad.ac.id, 4/03/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran students participated in Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN), a simulation session of the United Nations (UN) held by Harvard University, in Boston, USA on 11 up to 14 February 2016. The Unpad delegation who competed were 17 students and 2 Faculty Advisor.

Unpad delegation visited the headquarters of the United Nations (UN), in New York, United States.*

Seventeen students as part of delegation in the conference, were Andrew Marshal Institution (FEB), Anis Zarifah Wahyudi (FEB), Arvindya Rivito (FEB), Fathan Zuhair Farizi (FEB), Ferisqo Muhamarputra (FEB), Siti Annisa Sofyana (FEB) , Massy Andya testifying (FEB), Claudia Natasha Montolalu (FEB), Diah Puspa Khairani (FEB), Dwiky Satria Putranto (FEB), Rifqi Thaib Rianto (FEB), Gabriela Cornelia Londa (Fikom), Yessica Tiurma Lestari (Fikom), Debora Kristiyanto (Fikom), Jessica Priscilla Suri (FH), Marsha Rachmanda Princess (FIB), and Hanifah Putri Kusuma (Faperta). The entire delegation was accompanied by two Faculty Advisor, Irwanto Prasetio (FEB) and Adina Sekar Prastantri (Fikom).

In a release received by Unpad PR, Gabriela explained that HNMUN was the oldest, largest, and most prestigious simulation of UN conferences in the world, with 3000 students from across the world participating. Simulation of UN conference organized by Harvard University, Boston, has been held annually since 1955. During the conference delegates discussed global problems faced by some countries in various fields. Delegates were required to have competencies in negotiation, critical thinking and public speaking.

“Unpad has participated for the past ten years by sending a number of selected students. The students were selected through multiple selection, interviews, paper composition, Forum Group Discussion, and mini caucus, “said Gabriela.

This year, delegates from Unpad represented Paraguay in commitees of Disarmament and International Security (DISEC), Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural (SOCHUM), the Special Political and decolonization (SPECPOL), Legal, World Health Organization (WHO), Historical General Assembly 1979, the World Conference on Women, the United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Environment Programme, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.*
