Indonesia Educators and Researchers of Islam Law Association (Appheisi) Is Official

[Unpad.ac.id, 27/05/2016] As a forum for Indonesia educators and researchers in conducting a study on Islam economic law, Indonesia Educators and Researchers of Islam Law Association (Appheisi) was officiated in Mochtar Kusumaatmadja Auditorium of Faculty of Law, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jl. Dipati Ukur No. 35 Bandung, Wednesday (27/04).

This association was launched during the National Seminar on ” Human Resources Preparedness to Promote Acceleration Growth of Islamic Finance Industry”. The event was attended by hundreds of participants from all over Indonesia.

Met during the event, Chairman of National Seminar Committee, Dr. Lastuti Abubakar, SH., MH revealed that in addition to conducting national studies, APPHEISI would actively conduct cooperation with various parties, both national and international, and also community service.

“At the moment we work together with regulators and governments for the development of national Islamic economy,” said Dr. Lastuti who also acted as Head of Department of Curriculum Development and Teaching Appheisi.

Dr. Lastuti expected that in the future Islamic finance industry growth would be fast. Until now, Islamic financial contribution to the national economy has only reached 5%.

“It is expected that with results from Appheisi, legal basis regulation and product innovation could be better. Our hope is on human resources, as one of the strategic issues of the Islamic financial economy that often becomes constraint. Therefore with teaching, curriculum development, research results, we expected college graduates to be ready to take part in Islamic financial services industry, “she said.

Attending the national seminar was Ministry Expert Staff of Advanced Sector Development and Infrastructure, Pungky Sumadi as Keynote Speaker. In the presentation, he stated that human resources quality in Islamic financial sector is still not as advanced as the conventional financial sector.

He further said that application of Islamic law principles in accordance with the substance, environment, and context within needs to be well understood by decision makers, including judges and law enforcement officials. Thus, cooperation between government and regulators with legal economy sharia experts needs to be improved.

“With the launching of Appheisi, I hope that in the future we can cooperate through Sharia Finance National Committee, together establishing sharia financial industry,” said Pungky.*
