Unpad and City of Banjar West Java Collaborated in Region Development

[Unpad.ac.id, 7/04/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran and City of Banjar Government have agreed to strengthen cooperation for regional development. The cooperation as implementation of “Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar” program is expected to not only as affirmation education program, but also including more comprehensive cooperation.

Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad said that the next planned implementation of “Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar” program was to make contribution in increasing development in 27 City/Regency in West Java. Every city/regency would have a special team from Unpad. This is an implementation of Padjadjaran University’s Strategic Alliance program – (Asup Jabar).

“The inter-regional connectivity will be increasingly. At the moment it is not yet optimal, “said Rector during a meeting with the city government in Banjar Mayor Office, Wednesday (06/04).

The meeting was attended by Mayor of Banjar Dr. Hj. Ade Uu Sukaesih, Vice Mayor of Banjar, drg. Darmadji Prawirasetia, M.Kes., and the leaders of office in Banjar city government. Meanwhile from Unpad Dean of Faculty of Psychology Unpad Dr. Hendriati Agustiani, M.Si., and two lecturers from Faculty of Psychology, Nurul Yanuarti, dra., M.Si., dan Yanti Rubiyanti, M.Psi were also present.

For cooperation in Banjar area, Rector has assigned a team headed by Dr. Hendriati. The multidisciplinary team will be accompanied by two professors to work together to develop the city of Banjar.

“The Banjar we know already has various achievements in governance system. Improving good governance is not easy, we have to come out a variety of new innovations, “said Rector.

Fundamentally, each team assigned would have three branches of science, namely Development Studies, Public Administration, and State Administration. More scientific approaches would be tailored to the specific needs of each region.

For the initial stage of cooperation implementation, Ade said there were various fundamental problems to be shared. Those problems included strengthening of economic growth, strengthening of public services encouragement, and enhancing human resources capacity.

“We received many public reports stating public services in Banjar is still unsatisfactory. Therefore, we hope Unpad could help us strengthening our service, “said Ade.

Meanwhile, Head of Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda) City of Banjar Ade Setiana added that the cooperation would be in the form of optimizing the capacity owned by City of Banjar, besides its Natural Resources. Admittedly, this cooperation is very important because Banjar is a West Java representation in the border region.

In addition to socialization, Rector was also socializing the scholarship program “Star Project” in cooperation with Unpad Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). According to Rector, this program is to provide education for 30 financial managers. This program will provide scholarships to study in Management Program Unpad with concentration of Financial Management and Asset Management.

Rector has ensured that the recipients of the program are representatives of 27 City/Regency in West Java. “Each city/district will receive one position in this program. We expect Banjar can prepare their choice of human resources, “said Rector.*
