[Unpad.ac.id, 10/05/2016] Alumni of Universitas Padjadjaran must be in synergy to contribute for the country. The diversity of scientific fields in Unpad is a good capital to undertake integrated collaboration, so that synergies can be realized through real action.
It was delivered by Chairman of Alumni Association (Ika) Unpad period 2012–2016 Dr. Sapta Nirwandar, S.E., in the event of Leadership Handover with elected Chairman of Ika Unpad period 2016-2020 Hikmat Kurnia, in Multipurposes Room Unpad Jalan Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, Tuesday (10/05). Also attending Ika Unpad management of 2012-2016, leaderships of Unpad, representatives of alumni and students. The ceremony was marked by the signing of the Ika Unpad leadership handover between Sapta Nirwandar and Hikmat Kurnia witnessed by Rector Unpad Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad.
Unpad, said Sapta, has the power of knowledge in all areas, ranging from science, health, culture, and communication and political science. This potential was to be exploited by Hikmat Kurnia, chairman elected in subsequent management.
Rector also conveyed the same note in his speech. Alumni should play an active role in addressing a variety of major problems in Indonesia. At least three major problems currently encountered in Indonesia, namely corruption, drugs, and terrorism. The active role of alumni and Unpad would be more focused on addressing the problem of corruption.
To that end, Rector will initiate to disown alumni Unpad shall they were found guilty of corruption in the future. “At the upcoming graduation, graduates pledge will be added to promise not to commit corruption,” said Rector.
The active role must be driven by Ika Unpad. Rector said that Ika Unpad must be oriented to output looking, rather than input looking. This was to encourage the role of higher education in order to provide a positive impact for the nation.
The leadership handover, said Rector, did not mean as an end for the previous management. “As long as they are Unpad alumni, the devotion must go on,” said Rector.
Meanwhile, Hikmat said alumni Unpad should be connected to each other, so as to provide benefits. “When connected properly, there will be a sense of community and caring for fellow alumni, also the alma mater,” said Hikmat.
This Unpad History Program said that necessary strategic steps were required to achieve the target of such benefits. One of the implementations was preparing a work program based on entrepreneurship, including the manufacture of entrepreneurial movement, sustainable business incubation, entrepreneurship curriculum planning and teaching methods, as well as the preparation of the manufacturing business website data. The program was planned to be launched next July. Management of the program will be conducted by Ika Unpad division.
In the event also submitted the official report of the Great Council Meeting-IX Ika Unpad by congress leaders Drs. Eka Santosa to Hikmat Kurnia, as well as the management of Ika Unpad Report of 2012-2016 and the handover of Ika Unpad banner by Nirwandar to Hikmat Kurnia. *
