[Unpad.ac.id, 15/06/2016] Student of Dentist Specialist Education Program (PPDGS) field of Dental Conservation Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Padjadjaran, Raissa Indiwina, drg. triumphed in international arena of “Global Ceram-X Case Contest 2015 – 2016” in Konstanz, Germany on June 6. Raissa won the first prize in world stage after presenting results of analysis of case studies related to application of the patch diastema (gap between two teeth). Together with her supervisor, drg. Taofik Opik Hidayat, Sp.KG., for a month, Raissa worked the case and wrote up a compelte report.

“The case is conducted in such a way with complete step by step documentation,” said Raissa during the interview with PR Unpad, Tuesday (14/06).

The steps were to patch the gap between the teeth using product of Dentsply fillings, then to reshape them for the teeth to appear neat. She handled the case for a month. Then she has documented every stage, written up reports and created posters.

Before entering the international stage, Raissa was elected as the national representatives to participate on the Asia selection in Hong Kong last November 2015. At the Asian level, Raissa became the first champion and was elected, along with two other participants from Malaysia and Taiwan, to participate in international competition held in Germany.

There were two categories of competition, namely the restoration and endodontist. Raissa competed in the restoration category. At the international level, Raissa presented the case report case before three judges consisting of representatives from Dentsply, dental restoration experts from the United States and Italy, as well as participants from 13 countries.

According to Raissa, some assessment criteria are proposed Dentsply: the photo quality, conducted specialization cases, the difficulty of handling, the suitability of the action with a specified procedure, and the suitability of working order.

Raissa said that handling this aesthetic case was her first try. “By participating in this contest I could learn each phase. At each stage, I am always learning,” she said.

Aside of being a winner, Raissa also gained her own experience during these competition. She dismissed the notion that Asians are not in the same level as the Europeans. She has proven this by winning the first prize in the international arena.

“Based on my experience in the competition, I can say that our dentistry education in Unpad is not far different with the one abroad,” said Raissa.

In 2014, FKG Unpad had also won in the similar completion. It was the achievement of drg. Yolanda who won second place for Asia level competition.*
