Two Unpad Lecturer Research Projects Won BP3IPTEK Jabar Award

[Unpad.ac.id, 22/12/2016] Research conducted by lecturer of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Tomy Perdana and lecturer of the Faculty of Agricultural Industrial Technology, Dr. Dwi Purnomo won an award from the Agency for Research Development and Application of Science and Technology (BP3IPTEK) of West Java province at the Seminar and Presentation of Results of Creative Research, at the Park Hotel Bandung, Tuesday (20/12). The award was presented by the Head BP3IPTEK Jabar, Dr. Ir. Lukman Shalahudin, MSc Dr. Tomy as a winner of the Best Research and Dr. Dwi as a winner of the Best Poster Research.

Earlier, after a series of selections, Dr. Tomy and Dr. Dwi won research grants from BP3IPTEK. The study was conducted for a year, and the presentation of the results of research was carried out at the event.

The study was conducted by Dr. Tomy and his team consisting of Eddy Renaldi, SP., ME, Mahra Arari, Sp., MT, and Tetep Gina, SP., M.Sos. The research title is “Marketing System Model Development and Agribusiness Supply Chain Rice Efficient, Responsive, and Fair to Enhance Competitiveness and Farmer Income”.

“Research conducted in Indramayu West Java as the main center of West Java rice. This research is an action research, which combines system dynamics modeling with a case study of the implementation of the model generated at farmer group Mulus in Mundakjaya Village, District Cikedung, Indramayu,” said Dr. Tomy.

Dr. Tomy said that the application of the model on Gapoktan Tani Mulus has given good result, such as the increase in grain prices and the added value, because Gapoktan has been able to manage the rice agro-industry. They also have direct access to the market is structured such as supermarkets, restaurants and catering.

“In addition, the rice product is rice that has gone through a secure food lab test quality and food safety as a requirement for the PSAT,” he said.

Dr. Tomy also hoped that the research could contribute to the development of the theory and methodology related to supply chain management. This study was also expected to be useful for the community, especially in improving the competitiveness and income of farmers.

“The award is a driving force for further developing supply chain systems engineering rice to increase the competitiveness of farmers’ income,” said Dr. Tomy.

Meanwhile, research conducted by Dr. Dwi and his team members, Koko Iwan Agus Kurniawan titled “Model-based SME Empowerment through Collaboration Rural Urban Agro-industry”. Through his research, Dr. Dwi measured the success of Fruters Model application which he has initiated since 2013.

“The result was good, according to progress, from 9 blocks that exist in the business model,” said Dr. Bi.

The measurement is seen from key partners, key activities, key resources, value proposition, customer relationship, channels, customer segment, cost structure and revenue streams. Based on the research results, the model considered able to spread the value of benefits, including linking benefits between rural and urban areas. From this research, it is known that the sale of agricultural products actually not the best there is on the “brand”, but the “brand story”.

“Model Fruters has proven itself, and applied to the spheres of the small community, but discount a broad impact,” he said. *
