PT. Martina Berto, Tbk. Conducted Cooperation with Unpad

[Unpad.ac.id, 19/12/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran conducted research cooperation with PT. Martina Berto, Tbk. This cooperation is realized through the signing of the Charter of Cooperation between Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad by the Director of PT. Martina Berto, Samuel Eduard Pranata in Bale Sawala Jatinangor the Rectorate Building, Monday (19/12).

The cooperation is carried out by one of the subsidiaries of Martha Tilaar Group, a joint research on natural active ingredients as skin lightening in vitro. In this regard, joint research conducted by the Faculty of Pharmacy.

In his speech, Rector said that this cooperation is Unpad commitment in encouraging the development of science and technology owned to be given optimal for society. Seeing the increasing challenges in the community, university is now no longer a scientific center, but actively providing solutions to these problems through a variety of academic products.

Through this partnership, Rector considered the purpose of making connection between Unpad with Martha Tilaar, as equally committed to preserving the nation’s culture and environment. By promoting biodiversity-based products, Unpad and Martha Tilaar are expected to encourage a culture of “back to nature” in the community.

“This cooperation can hopefully build a healthy lifestyle, which is not just healthy but sound quality,” said Rector.

On the other hand, Rector encouraged all forms of cooperation with Martha Tilaar Group, which is expected to produce an academic product. Moreover, this cooperation is also expected to increase the number of scientific publications, both nationally and internationally.

Meanwhile, Samuel said that the cooperation with Unpad is one implementation of business collaboration company engaged in the field of cosmetic products. According to him, there are three aspects that are currently being developed Martha Tilaar, namely active connections with consumers, research cooperation with universities, as well as compete to produce the best products.

During the event, the Cooperation Agreement was signed by Faculty of Pharmacy and PT. Martina Berto Tbk. The agreement was signed by Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Ajeng Diantini, M.Sc., Apt., and Samuel Eduard Pranata.

After the signing, a guest lecture entitled “Innovation for Sustainable Development: Elevating Local Products to the Global Market” by Kilala Tilaar was held. According Kilala, as the second Reviews largest tropical country in the world, Indonesia should be able to take advantage of a variety of local wealth. Currently, many foreign researchers are interested in examining a variety of potential local biological Indonesia.

To that end, Martha Tilaar continued to develop a variety of biological wealth of local products. Through a research center owned Martha Tilaar cooperating with various universities and laboratories, it produced various formulas of raw materials locally. Many local products from Sumatra to Papua have been used as a cosmetic raw material. *
