Unpad’s Faculty of Agriculture Dispatched Thematic Community Service Program Participants 2017 Cooperating with Ministry of Agricultural

Unpad Faculty of Agriculture dispatched 120 students and 24 field lecturers to conduct Thematic Community Service Program in 16 districts in Bandung, Sunday (8/10) at Unpad Faculty of Agricultural’s student center, Jatinangor. The participants were departed formally by Unpad’s Director of Education and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Wawan Hermawan, M.S., accompanied by the dean of Faculty of Agriculture Dr. Ir. H. Sudarjat, M.P.

In this occasion, Prof. Wawan said that Unpad Community Service program in the future will be integrated with various researchs and services for the society under the guidance from the professors/lecturers. Through this integrated community Service program, it is expected to improve student’s quality and percentage of graduation on time, for example through student’s final task integration with this program.

The implementation of this Thematic Student-Community-Service Program is synergized with assisting program on the production of farmer’s soybean and chili seeds. This program is a cooperation between Unpad Faculty of Agriculture with Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia in straightening the seeds/seedlings of crops commodities especially soybean and horticulture.

The theme of this Thematic Student-Community Service Program is “Strengthening the Food Endurance in Bandung district by Increasing Soybean and Chili Production” with the motto “Farmer Friends”.  It  will be held in 19 villages/districts in Bandung for 2 months. This is a form of Unpad’s concern especially Faculty of Agriculture’s to help increasing knowledge and prosperity of farmers around by increasing the production of soybean and chili seeds.

The participants of this Thematic Student-Community-Service Program have been provided by practical knowledge and various efficient technologies or teknologi tepat guna (TTG) that has been produced by the lecturers. Through Technical Guidance (Bimtek) held on Saturday-Sunday (7-8/10) then, TTG which are the lecturers’ product are expected to be implemented in real life around the society.

This Technical Guidance was joined by 225 participants consisting of 120 students, 75 young farmers, and 24 field lecturers. The participants had a technical briefing of the activities that would be done in the field (Bandung) for two months. The Technical Guidance material was filled by the lecturers of the Faculty of Agriculture as the interviewees that provide various TTG to be implemented later by the farmers.
