[Kanal Media Unpad] Universitas Padjadjaran turned 65 years old on Sunday (11/9/2022). For its 65th Anniversary, also referred to as Lustrum XIII, Unpad used the theme “Rise Together with Hybrid University Unpad”.

In her speech at the Lustrum XIII Commemoration Ceremony held at Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata, Iwa Koesoemasoemantri Campus, Bandung, the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Rina Indiastuti, stated that this is the moment for Unpad to make transformational changes in order to create a more prosperous and sustainable future, with one of them being the implementation of hybrid learning in the university.

“Lustrum-XIII and Unpad’s 65th Anniversary in 2022 are expected to further encourage the process of becoming a hybrid university as one of the accelerators in achieving the vision of Universitas Padjadjaran, which is to become a world-renowned university that brings meaningful impact on society,” said the Rector.

The Rector views the pandemic as a challenge for Unpad to create an even stronger impact on society.

“Our determination to be more competent, adaptive, collaborative, innovative, connected, and impactful has improved our mindset and way of working in order to support the nation’s social and economic recovery, as well as bringing transformations to higher education,” she stated during her speech.

The Rector stated that the amount of academic works produced by Universitas Padjadjaran academics has never subsided despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will continue to develop high-quality academic works that can be utilized by society and various industries. Through close interaction and collaboration between universities and the real world, Unpad will be able to present itself as a source of Indonesia’s progress and development, as well as contribute to the nation’s culture and civilization,” said the Rector.

Currently, Unpad continues to develop its activities by implementing hybrid learning systems with the support of information and communication technologies. As part of the program, students and faculty members are trained to use the technologies to increase the effectiveness of the blended learning methods.

Furthermore, the Rector stated that, in this digital era, Unpad as a state-owned university with academic and non-academic autonomy will transform its role from being a curator of knowledge into the center of the knowledge economy.

Unpad will produce various human capital and talents as well as research and innovations that can be utilized in creating added value that brings prosperity to both Unpad and society.

By collaborating with various job industries, Unpad must move beyond the traditional management style of only preparing graduates at their pre-career stage to preparing lifelong education with a curriculum that can be utilized throughout their careers.

“The downstreaming and commercialization of research and innovations indicate that various industries need Unpad. It is time for us to strengthen Unpad’s position as a world-class hybrid university with the principles of a knowledge enterprise. Unpad will respond to the market’s demands and sustainable development needs, with support from the expansion of networks and collaborations at local, national, and international levels,” the Rector declared. On this occasion, the launch of QRIS Unpad Sa-Umat Endowment Fund in collaboration with Ikatan Alumni Unpad (Unpad Alumni Association) and Bank Mandiri was also held.
