[Unpad Media Channel] The Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (Pimnas) implementation was held on-site at the Universitas Padjadjaran campus this year. The return of the on-site annual event occurred festively and elicited the enthusiasm of more than 2.400 university student participants from many Indonesian universities.

“It is very lively because maybe this is the first on-site event after the pandemic that we meet each other directly. The enthusiasm is also remarkable, with over 2.400 participants. This will surely be a prideful part with encouraging outdoor and atmosphere. Therefore, we can be maximum in carrying out everything,” said Expert Staff in Talent Management at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia, Tatang Muttaqin.

The excitement of Pimnas 36 was also not excluded from the radiance of spirit and hope of the participants from many universities in Indonesia, along with the supervising lecturer. This certainly would improve the belief that the young Indonesian generation had fantastic creativity.

The exciting matter emphasized by Tatang in the middle of the opening of Pimnas 36, Monday (27/11/2023), was related to strengthening the selection process evaluation system, which prioritized objectivity and fairness. Therefore, the winner would become a reflection of a better Indonesia.

“As stated before, talent scouting in the selection is crucial. Imagine if the (participants of) 4.000 students are already selected, absolutely from the test, they are excellent. So, the juries from many universities surely not only must be objective but also collaborated,” explained Tatang.

Moreover, Tatang said that the chosen winner of Pimnas 36 would be placed in a community ecosystem. They would interact and deepen their interest, for example, as a researcher. “As a matter of fact, they will be facilitated with the scholarship program of Indonesia Maju and Pendidikan Indonesia to continue their master’s or even doctoral degree if they have passion as a researcher,” he added.

As for the Rector of Unpad, Prof. Rina Indiastuti, the spirit of Pimnas’ 36 participants reflected their future hope. Aside from being a talent in university, the students were encouraged to be active human resources for Indonesian advancement.

“It seems that we are convinced if the Indonesian youth is an amazing generation with creative work,” mentioned Rector.

Developing an ecosystem related to scientific events in innovation research for students is also one of Unpad’s particular goals as Pimnas 36’s host. Unpad wanted to facilitate students’ to produce original work based on science and technology that contained elements of novelty.

“We want to build an ecosystem related to scientific work through innovation research that the lecturer has already done well. We want to give a platform for students to do the same so that they will produce an original work based on science and technology that contains elements of novelty,” she explained.

Other than a competition event, Pimnas 36 was also expected to be a friendship and exchange of inspiration event for students to gain the spirit of struggle for the future.

“We certainly hope to witness all universities enthusiasm about competing to win the rotating trophy earlier. Then, the enthusiasm will be poured into presenting the best scientific works. Insya Allah, this will be a friendship event to exchange and be inspired by each other. Later, it will serve as their preparation when they return. They sure have more expectation of the future,” mentioned Rector of Unpad.

After being interviewed by the media team, the Rector of Unpad with Tatang Muttaqin, Asep Sukmayadi (Head of BPTI), Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita (Chairperson of Pimnas 36), and several chiefs observed the innovation technology exhibition at Bale Santika Unpad, Jatinangor, using electric bike. (arm/SA)*
