The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Indonesian: Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik, abbreviated as FISIP) Universitas Padjadjaran was established on August 12th, 1960, based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Pedagogy, and Culture No. 66971/UU/60. FISIP Universitas Padjadjaran offers various study programs that aim to produce excellent graduates in the field of social and political sciences.

In practice, the faculty’s educational system mainly focuses on strengthening the students’ competence in the field of social and political sciences. The courses are divided into two major categories, such as faculty compulsory courses and departmental compulsory ones.

Faculty compulsory courses are organized for students to master the basic concepts of social and political sciences. Meanwhile, the departmental compulsory courses consisting of theory and methodology courses are implemented so students will have professional competencies in their chosen study programs.

The students will also possess valuable skills to analyze various social phenomena by implementing their knowledge through participating in community services.

An innovative learning system is implemented by the faculty members of FISIP Unpad as a way to adjust to the constant change of technology and science. Advanced technologies are applied to accommodate the development of lecture materials. Furthermore, in the academic year 2010/2011, FISIP Unpad started to implement a student-centered learning method and designed a competency-based curriculum for the students to achieve the required competencies.
