Shape and Meaning of the Symbol of Universitas Padjadjaran
The shape and Meaning of the symbol of University of Padjadjaran was established by the Rector Decree No. 903/H6.1/KEP/HK/2010 and registered in Ministry of Justice and Human Rights no. 045978 on 5th February 2010.
The symbol consist of six parts:
• Torch
Kujang
• Wings (=leaves)
• Wheel
• Lotus
• Pentagon

Torch is knowledge as the torch of life, which brings light of happiness to nobility.
Kujang is a sundanese heirloom weapon as a symbol of strength and courage to protect rights and truth, which is the duty of knowledge.
Wings (painted as fern leaves) are the allusion of Pakuan city containing a word of “paku” which is the Centre of Greatness of the Majesty of “Padjadjaran; and the fern leaves are wings which means constantly trying to reach the higher level or quality.
Wheel is community, which like spinning wheel in a process of change and a pattern of Universitas Padjadjaran.
Lotus Flower is blooming means eternal glory, sacred of all time, the symbol of culture and education.
Pentagon, a shield in pentagonal shape is Pancasila, the nation principle which guide all university efforts and activities for the sake of people and nation.
Yellow means glory and nobility (background)
Red means cleanliness (torch light and wheel)
White means honesty and sanctity (kujang and lotus flower)
Black means courage, strength, and fortitude of the heart (wings)
