P3GA LPPM Unpad Helps Flood Victims in Dayeuh Kolot

[Unpad.ac.id, 01/01/2013] Concerned with the condition of the flood victims in Dayeuh Kolot, Bandung Regency, the Center for Children and Gender Studies (P3GA) LPPM Unpad organizes community service 2012 which shows that academicians are not only engrossed with their academic life but also able to show social responsibility for the community at large.

Community Service P3GA LPPM Unpad in Kampung Bojong Citepus, Cangkuang Wetan Village, District of Dayeuh Kolot, Saturday (29/12).

The service includes free health and oral examination for approximately 115 villagers. According to Nina Djustiana, the head of P3GA LPPM Unpad, the event is also to commemorate the mother’s day and represents “a mother who are committed to taking care of herself, the children, and the society.”

Many villagers have fallen ill due to fatigue, lack of nutrition supplies, and unhygienic condition after the flood. They were given free medicines, donation from all faculties in Unpad. “Hopefully, despite small, this event will alleviate their suffering,’ says Djustiana.

Jimy Narotama, also participating in the event, admits that the service will stop there. Other series of events will follow to relieve stress that the victims might be experiencing, such as performing arts or reading stories for the children.

The event is highly appreciated by the community members. The head of community unit 09 in Bojong Citepus, Omar Ramila, says that the community members are very much helped. “I thank you so much for being able to help us, providing free health services.” Similarly, Eulis Maryati shows her appreciation for P3GA LPPM Unpad. “Alhamdulillah, I can get the treatment need for the illness I am now having due to the flood.”
