Universiti North Malaysia Pays a Visit to Unpad’s Elderly Care Clinic

[Unpad.ac.id, 8/02/2013] A representative group from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) visited the Unpad health technical unit on Friday. They were all welcomed by the the head of health care unit, Trias Nugrahadi, and the head of International Affairs, Anne Nurbaity. Their visit was intended to help improve health care unit in their university.

“This is our first time coming here,” said Mohammad Sanuri Rahamad from UUM. He admitted that Unpad has an excellent school of medicine. Many Malaysian students go to Unpad to study medicine. “Many of our staff graduated from here,” he added.

Trias Nugrahadi explained that the health care clinic was established in 1960, concurrent with the establishment of the faculty of medicine. The unit grows into a bigger unit, giving elaborate services on health, specialist treatment, laboratory, and radiology as well as fitness center for the elderly. “Our elderly care clinic is based on our concern for the elderly people. The clinic is one of our top priorities,” said he.

The elderly care clinic impressed the UUM faculties greatly. They agreed on the notion of giving extra care for the elderly people. As a result, they planned to study further and implement the establishment of similar clinic  in their university.

“We are interested in knowing more about the clinic. God willing, it is a good initiative to be developed further in Malaysia,” said Rahamad.

Universiti Utara Malaysia established health care department in 1984. It has been running optimally since 1990. The visit is expected to result in partnership programs such as staff exchange. “There will be a follow up, especially in the health care service or student exchange programs.”
