[Unpad.ac.id, 11/06/2013] On Tuesday (11/06), Unpad held a gathering with parents and guardians of prospective students for Sarjana Program (equivalent to undergraduate degree) SNMPTN (National Entrance Examination) Route 2013/2014. This annual program was held in every faculty in Jatinangor, as well as in Faculty of Economy and Business and Faculty of Law in Dipati Ukur. The welcoming ceremony was organized in Bale Santika Sports Center, Jatinangor.
Unpad’s Rector Prof. Ganjar Kurnia in the occasion presented Unpad through a video viewed in every faculty to the invited parents and guardians. He also congratulated the prospective students for passing the examination. “It is not easy to be accepted in Unpad because of the tough competition,” he added.
This year, there were 141,864 applicants to Unpad which is the highest in Indonesia. With capacity of 3,733 students, the competitiveness index for the enrollment is 1:38 and Rector said that in several study programs the competitiveness is even higher.
He also said that the competition would trigger enhancement of input quality of prospective students. This showed in their grades in report card as a requirement for passing the examination. This year, there were many students with the highest grades in their school accepted in Unpad.
Rector’s announcement of the Single Tuition Rate (UKT) was greeted by the guests. UKT is a single payment system which excludes any additional fees such as for practicum, field study, graduation, field work, excursion, alma mater jacket, and others.
He also affirmed that there would be no students dropped out because they cannot afford the tuition. Thus, the tuition fee is determined by parents’ earnings based on the wealth data filled by each parent.
Dadang, a parent of a prospective student from Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences expressed his relief by saying that he would not worry about paying for his child’s tuition.
