[Unpad.ac.id, 4/09/2013] Two teams of students from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) gave talks at the Conference and Exhibition on New and Renewable Energies and their Conservation (EBTKE), organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Republic of Indonesia together with the Society for Indonesian Renewable Energy (METI) on August 21-23, 2013 in Jakarta.
The first team consisted of Jaya Kelvin, Muallimah Annisaa, Desi Teliandi, Kamal Ghalib, Resti A. Intan, and Finri Damanik presented their paper on “Preliminary Research: Ocean Currents and Wind Energy to Support Lighthouse in Small Island-Indonesia” which elaborated sea energy to power lighthouses, aiming to reduce fossil energy.
As for the second team whose members were Niomi Pridina, Rona Sandro, Arnuddin, Armyanda, Rizky Mahriza, and Lola Nurul, they presented a paper on “Identification of Potential Energy Powerplant Around The Sea of Sunda Strait” discussing Sunda strait as he source of sea energy. The two papers are now being reviewed for publication in Journal Elsevier.
The students are members of Komuntas Instrumen dan Survei Kelautan (KOMITMEN), as part of the Lembaga Keprofesian Mahasiswa Ilmu Kelautan (LK Mahaika) FPIK Unpad, under the supervision of Noir P. Purba. It was the second time that they took part in the international event that aims to dig the potentials of Indonesian seas for renewable sources.
