Universitas Padjadjaran holds a workshop on ‘planning’ for lecturers and academic staff

[Unpad.ac.id, 13/09/2013] Unpad, in cooperation with Bank Mandiri, held a workshop entitled “Perencanaan Kegiatan Berorientasi Tujuan,” from Thursday until Saturday at Hotel Putri Gunung, Lembang. This event was attended by 54 participants, consisting of lecturers, officials, educational personnel and other staff members.

The Workshop was officially opened by the Rector of Unpad on Thursday (12/09). In his speech, he emphasized the importance of this aspect of planning in conducting an activity. “Often we ourselves who make problems in conducting an activity, but sometimes we even cannot solve the problem,” said the Rector. Therefore, the workshop was held in order to equip lecturers and academic staff with the ability to do a careful planning in achieving objectives of an activity.

Prof. Roni Kastaman, Unpad vice-rector, said that an activity will meet its goal if it’s conducted on the right track with a careful planning. “With a careful planning, we can get Unpad 5-year-strategic-plans to work effectively,” said the professor.

He also added that the workshop participants came from various levels of work units, such as deans, vice-deans, bureau chiefs, section chiefs, lecturers, and academic staff. This is done in order to get many perspectives on planning from each work unit.

All units are expected to participate actively and cooperatively in this workshop and to contribute valuable ideas. “We selected the participants from various work units from all faculties. We expects that after attending the workshop, they would be able to apply what they gained here in each of their work unit in each faculty,” the professor added.

The participants are divided into 6 groups, with a different task for each group. They discuss the planning for the task and then give a presentation about the result. This workshop is based on Ziel Orientierte Projeck Plannung (ZOPP) method, which is a goal-oriented project planning led by a team facilitator. This method enables each group to be actively engaged in a discussion. “In this workshop, all of the participants become the speakers, while the team leaders only act as a facilitator, said the rector.
