[Unpad.ac.id, 8/12/2013] Universitas Padjadjaran organized U-Camatian or there-player chess (also known as three-handed, three-man, or three-way chess, which has entered its third year, participated by 104 teams from various countries in Indonesia. U-Cmatian is a unique chess tournament initiated by Unpad rector, Prof. Ganjar Kurnia. He is targeting this annual event to be one of iconic events held by Universitas Padjadjaran Hopefully this event can be one of Unpad’s iconic event in the field of sport game.

The head of West Java Indonesian Chess Federation, Agus Subandrio, expressed his appreciation to Universitas Padjadjaran for its consistency in organizing the tournament. He’s hoping that this event can be consistently held annually in the future. Unpad has become chess player’s destination from all over the country.
The head of U-Camatian steering committee, Ir. Marsetrio. M. P, explained that this year’s U-Camatian was participated by 104 teams coming from many different regions and from various walks of life. As many as 104 teams competed in the tournament, playing on 52 chessboards. This number is actually lower than what the committee expected, who targeted 56 chessboards, as in 56th Unpad’s Dies Natalis. According to Marsetio, this is due to the international chess tournament which took place at the same time in Dubai. Many chess grand masters went there. However, this year’s tournament was attended by more participants than last year’s. The tournament began at 09.00 and was officially opened by the head of Unpad, Dr. Ir. Heryawan Kemal Mustafa, M.Sc.
