[Unpad.ac.id, 19/02/2016] In facing globalization, we should carefully maintain the strength and resources of our own culture. Do not give anyone else the chance to grab our resources and eliminate our native culture.

“About globalization, we must reinforce our marginal area. Otherwise, we would run out of resource, including our culture, “said Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad at the opening ceremony of the Asian Community Lectures in Bale Sawala, Rector Building Jatinangor, Friday (2/19).
He stated that globalization should not be considered within the context of interstate, but of society in general. In globalization, state also should be able to protect the country.
Therefore, Rector invited students to explore potential of existing resources in the regions, especially West Java. That way, the potentials are better utilized by our nation. “If we consider futuristic, the next life exists in the village,” said Rector.
In addition, other important thing is to preserve the culture, especially noble values contained therein. We shall not let foreign culture or people omit our original culture.
In facing globalization, Rector also encouraged students to think broadly. Through the Asian Community Lectures, students were expected to posses more comprehensive insight since this event would feature speakers from various countries in Asia.
Rector also presented scholarship opportunities for students who want to step out to a global level and continue to present the power of West Java. In each faculty, opportunities existed for five selected students who meet the requirements of ability of a good academic, global communication skills, and a good character.
His commitment is for university and faculty ready to facilitate the students to be able to perform better in bringing this nation to the eyes of the world.” Unpad want to move from West Java to the world,” said Rector.
