Siti Nisrina Hasna Elected as Chairperson of IAAS Indonesia

[Unpad.ac.id, 10/02/2016] Two Padjadjaran University students, members of the International Association of Student in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) Local Committee (LC) Unpad, were chosen to be part of core committee IAAS Indonesia during the National Congress XXI IAAS Indonesia in Surakarta, January 30-February 3, 2016.

iaas-indonesiaThe two students are Siti Nisrina Hasna and Nabilah Putri. Both of them are students of Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran. Siti was elected as National Director or Chairperson of IAAS Indonesia, while Nabilah was elected as Vice Director of Communication for IAAS Indonesia. Both were elected and inaugurated in on February 2, during the congress.

In a release received by PR Unpad, after being elected as chairperson, Siti then led BOS (Building On Success) agenda that contained Focus Group Discussion of each department to formulate IAAS Indonesia Strategic Plan 2016/2017. One of the parts of the agenda within the strategic plan was organizing the annual World Congress (WOCO).

This year, Indonesia was chosen to host the WOCO, having previously held in the countries of the European region. Of the eight IAAS Indonesia Local Committees, Unpad was elected as one of the Local Committees who hosted representatives IAAS members from around the world for two days.

National Congress of IAAS Indonesia is an annual event that is held to enhance the relationship among members in each LC IAAS. The congress held the theme of “Developing a Sustainable Farming System and Processing Technology of Agriproducts to Strengthen Global Food Security”. The members of IAAS in Indonesia were expected to contribute significantly to the development of science-oriented public welfare, improvement of sustainable agriculture and food security.

This congress held international seminars, workshops, and working meetings between members of IAAS. International seminar and workshop was held on January 30 to raise the potential fermented guava juice. This activity aimed to provide insight to the participants related to food security, as well as providing skills and knowledge of participants about cultivation of guava as one of the local agricultural commodity that has the potential to be marketed globally.\

Furthermore, for three consecutive days, the forum discussed Basic Guidelines and Internal Regulations, report on development of LC IPB, Unpad, UGM, Undip, UNS, UB, Unram, and Unlam, reporting responsibilities as the dismissal of the management of IAAS Indonesia for 2015/2016 period, as well as to select and inaugurate core committee IAAS Indonesia for 2016/2017 period.

IAAS is an international organization based on development of science and technology in field of Agriculture. IAAS has 8 Local Committee (branches) in Indonesia and are linked to each other, under IAAS Indonesia. *
