Director of Governance and Public Communication Universitas Padjadjaran Dr. Soni A. Nulhaqim, S. Sos., M.Sc., said that if students admitted at a program study did not register, their schools will not be in black listed but the case will become an example of obstacle for other students who wanted to admit to state universities through SNMPTN.

“That would be equal malice. If you already accepted but didn’t register, others would lose their opportunity to be admitted in state universities, “said Dr. Soni during the socialization of SNMPTN and SBMPTN and Program Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar at Hall of SMAN 2 Sukabumi on Monday (22/02).

This event was attended by the Principal and Teacher of Counseling and Vocational High School in Sukabumi. Among the attendance are Head of Curriculum Management and Middle Education of Department of Education Sukabumi Drs. Ujun Junaedi R, M.M., as well as Chairman of Working Group Principal (K3S) SMA Sukabumi Asep Sukanta, S.Pd.

There are several reasons for students to not registering after passing SNMPTN, including the program was not their preference, the study program was chosen based on their parents’ wish but not matching capabilities of said students, or to choose as they wanted to go along their friends.

In fact, said Dr. Soni, SNMPTN selection process is difficult and involves tight competition. In four consecutive years, Unpad is the state university with the highest preference rate in Indonesia through SNMPTN. The number of SNMPTN applicants for Universitas Padjadjaran in 2015 was 76,573 people for a capacity of 3,097.

The scoring of SNMPTN is based on student index combination (annual report grades and achievement of KKM grade, UN grade, and other achievements), school index, regional programs index, and grading policies at state universities. If a student passed SNMPTN, student would have been successfully competed with students in other schools in the region.

Being highly competitive, student should be able to work their best with SNMPTN. Therefore, Dr. Soni hoped that involvement of teachers to advise students is necessary. This role is important to shape the student’s option based on the ability of the students.

“Hopefully by 2016, there would be no more students who do not register after they are passed SNMPTN,” said Dr. Soni.

pertemuan sekdafoto bersamaPrior to SNMPTN registration, School and Student Data Base (PDSS) has to be completed before the deadline on Saturday (20/02). Student Grade Verification deadline was Tuesday (23/02) at 23:59 pm. PDSS grades was intended to be in accordance with the grade of their original report.

“If there is a grade that does not fit in PDSS after verification process, the school would be considered to have manipulated the data, resulting in exclusion in the following year,” said Dr. Soni.

The socialization also included the explanation of assessment mechanism by SNMPTN Education and Registration Section staff, Irma Nuraini, S.Si., M.T.

Development of Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar Program

In a work visit to Sukabumi, Dr. Soni also held a meeting with Regional Secretary of Sukabumi Dr. H.M.N. Hanafie Zain, M.Sc. The meeting was conducted in the Hanafie’s Office in Sukabumi City Hall, Monday (22/02) morning.

During the meeting, Dr. Soni spoke about Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar program. In addition to affirmative educational programs, Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar program also include improvement of education, health, and welfare of community in 27 City Regency in West Java through participation of Unpad academic community.

One of the implementations is to re free tuition for Medicine and Medicine Education program in Faculty of Medicine starting this year. The program is to encourage the availability of doctor and specialist doctor in 27 City/Regency in West Java.

In response, Hanafie appreciated Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar program. In fact, he encouraged Unpad to contribute to developing Regional General Hospital (Hospital) in Sukabumi. These institutions would benefit from the equal distribution of Physicians and Physician specialists.

“We have many established cooperation with Unpad. And Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar program could be developed as learning program for our areas, “said Hanafie who is also an alumnus of Universitas Padjadjaran.*
