Tasikmalaya has abundant cultural wealth of musical instrument Angklung Landung, usually played at the ceremony, cmarriage, or harvest ceremony. Landung Angklung is a modified musical instrument from Angklung Buncis and Angklung Badud first created in year 2000 by Apep Suherlan.

Angklung Landung is unique because it sizes larger than usual angklung, of 2.75 meters in length. In addition, this angklung uses pentatonic tunings with 3 frames instead of only two like ordinary angklung.

“To create angklung for different purpose in order to distinguish it from others angklung, especially in few festivals were signified by modifications of angklung, decorated with colorful streamers. Red in angklung Landung is for bravery; blue means water as the source of life; yellow means prosperity for main harvest; while green signifies nature, “said Apep to Lises Unpad.

Angklung is usually accompanied with helaran dance performed by players of angklung dancing in circles, implying one needs to keep remembering his/her homeland even if they went away.

Angklung Landung hopefully will attract viewers and attention from society and most of all young generation.
