[Unpad.ac.id, 26/04/2016] Registration of Joint Selection State University Entrance (SBMPTN) was opened starting from 25 April to 20 May. Graduates year 2016, 2015 and 2014 of SMA/MA/SMK/MA or the equivalent could participated in the selection; the selection is expected to receive 42,800 participants. The estimation came from study results on the examinees Location Committee data from 2001 to 2015.

“We expected for the slot to be filled,” said Executive Secretary of Local Committee 34 SBMPTN Bandung, Prof. Dr. Asep Gana Suganda, during a press conference with reporters at the Information Center of ITB, Tuesday (26/04).
For the region of Local Committee 34, five state universities opened enrollment through SBMPTN, namely Indonesian Education University (UPI), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), State Islamic University Sunan Gunung Jati (UIN SGD), Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), and Universitas Siliwangi (Unsil).
Attending the press conference were Head of Local Committee 34 Bandung, Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs, Universitas Padjadjaran, Dr. Arry Bainus, M.A., Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, Rector and Vice Rector of Academic Affairs of Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), Indonesia Education University (UPI), State Islamic University Sunan Gunung Jati, and Universitas Siliwangi Tasikmalaya.
According to Prof. Asep, implementation of SNMPTN has differences from the previous year. This year, in addition to a written exam (Paper Based Testing / PBT) implementation, selection committee also has organized a selection method based computer (Computer Based Testing/CBT). Out of 78 state universities participating in SBMPTN, 30 state universities became the site of CBT exam with a total quota of participants reaching 2,500 people.
During the occasion, Rector as the organizer for CBT in Bandung said that there are three universities as CBT center, namely Universitas Padjadjaran (for 100 participants), UPI (100 participants) and ITB (120 participants). According to Rector, the CBT methods would be more time-efficient than methods PBT.
“CBT is effective to avoid mistakes when filling answer sheets,” said Rector.
After the opening of registration, quota selection through CBT has been fully filled out by applicants. Rector said CBT method is currently still limited for test of Science or Socialhumaniora only. Mixed test group would still be using PBT.
The registration mechanism SBMPTN according to Prof. Asep was still generally the same as last year. Registration began by registration online on the website https://pendaftaran.sbmptn.ac.id/ in order to obtain SBMPTN Fee Payment Slip which contains payment code, payment date, Access Code Registration (KAP) and PIN Candidate SBMPTN 2016.
The difference is that this year SBMPTN fee became 200,000 IDR, 100% rise from last year. Participants could pay the fee through bank partners of SBMPTN 2016, Bank Mandiri and BNI. After making the payment, the participants should then re-access SBMPTN registration page in order to finalize the registration.
Prof. Asep explained that applicants from 2014 and 2015 graduates must attach their certificates during registration process. As for the graduates of 2016, participants must have a Letter of Certificate, a recent photo, and with a legalized stamp from their school.
Rector also explained about Universitas Padjadjaran capacity. This year, Unpad will enroll 6,148 students—3,074 from SNMPTN and 3,074 from SBMPTN. This capacity includes 51 Bachelor course, with addition of one new courses Veterinary Medicine.
This number increased by 72 people from the previous year of 6,076 students. Rector said the addition is in relation with the opening of Veterinary Medicine course under the Faculty of Medicine. *
