[Unpad.ac.id, 3/05/2016] Three students of Mathematics from Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) Universitas Padjadjaran, Aris Muda, Dely Ismail, and Asefan Ardi won in Mathematical Analysis and Geometry Day (MaG-Day) IX held by Bandung Technology Institute (ITB) 23 April 2016. Aris and Dely won silver medals while Asefan bronze.

MaG-Day is a competition of problem-solving analysis and geometry, with 30 universities from all over Indonesia participating. In this competition, each participant was given their individual task. The score of each individual is then summed as the team score. Five teams with the highest score competed in the final round as finalists.
From Unpad, there were four participating teams, each consisting two students. Although this year Unpad team did not qualified for the finals, their individual achievement was enough to make Aris, Dely, and Asefan content.
“It was actually a team race, but there were also awards for individuals. We did not make it to the finals, placed only in the big nine, “said Dely during interview in PR Unpad Room Rectorate Building 1st floor, Jatinangor, Monday (2/05).
Aside from sense of excitement, there was also disappointment as they failed to qualify for finals. Various evaluations would be done before they go to the next competition. “For next year, if God permits, we would do our best,” said Dely.
In the competition, Unpad representatives were internal selection result in Mathematics Program Unpad. In Mathematics Unpad, there was also a math competitions club, Mathematics Olympiad Loverz Club (MOL-C). In this group, all the preparations were done ahead of the competition, including through the guidance of the lecturers.
“There were many annual math competitions. Therefore we keep on preparing ourselves, as part of our routine. In the club meeting we practice problems along with our lecturers. “said Aris.
Not only for MaG-Day competition, preparations were also made to face many other math competitions at the national level. Preparations are also made to conduct training to their juniors.
“Hopefully our juniors could perform better than us,” said Asefan.
