Rector: IDB Played Role in Supporting Unpad Education Vision Achievement

[Unpad.ac.id, 13/05/2016] Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has provided opportunities for Universitas Padjadjaran to accelerate its achievement in reaching world-class education vision.

This was said by Rector Unpad, Prof Tri Hanggono Achmad, as part of sharing session for the success of IDB project in in Human Capital Development Seminar helf by Bank Indonesia in collaboration with Islamic Research and Training Institution (IRTI) and Islamic Development Bank, Friday (13/05) in Function Room 4th floor Gedung Thamrin, Bank Indonesia, Jakarta.

IDB through Quality Improvement of Unpad project, has facilitated academic activities for curriculum development and strengthening of research and innovation. This curriculum development was conducted to achieve Indonesia Nasional Qualification Framework (KKNI) based curriculum and international accreditation. Furthermore, these activities continued by academic and student activities integration and Joint Preparation Stage.

Research and innovation through Herbal Science advanced program was expected to develop excellent research in developing new medicine based on local natural resources. Staff development has also become very important in both degree and non-degree programs training for excellence achievement, especially in the field of Herbal Science and Islam Economics. For support, Unpad has developed infrastructure to enhance academic atmosphere and better innovation ecosystem.

In the future, Unpad’s role became very strategic, in accordance with Unpad’s wish to contribute in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement in West Java with Pentahelix cooperation strategy. IDB role was expected to facilitate university development in a wider role, not only cooperation between universities but also in 3in1, 4in1 and 7in1 projects.

IDB needs to develop cooperation activities university facilities in contributing to the community directly. Unpad has made concrete effort in relation to management innovation, developed through Science and Technology Park, which required IDB support.

Human Capital Development Seminar, with theme of Producing Competitive Human Capital for Economic Empowerment, was a side event of the 41st Annual Meeting of IDB Group involving 57 finance ministers from member countries. The seminar was opened by the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, by a speech from the Director General of IRTI IDB Group, and Director General of Higher Education Science and Technology Resources (SDID) in representation of Menristekdikti.

Several sessions in the seminar involved government elements, among others Director General Belmawa Kemristekdikti, Director General Islamic Education Kemenag, Manager Education from IDB, Deputy Country Manager from UNDP, Rectors of Unpad, ITB, UNJ, Universitas Gontor and UIN Malang.

Unpad delegation was comprised of Deans and managers for facility developmed by IDB projects. By developing these facilities, these facilities development is expected to be utilized as effective as possible by academic community in order to accelerate the Unpad vision achievement as mandated by the Rector on this seminar. *
