Rector Presented Main Programs to Unpad Board of Professor

[Unpad.ac.id, 29/06/2016] Rector Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, led a meeting with the members of Unpad Board of Professor, in the Multipurpose Room 4th Floor Building 2 Unpad Jalan Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, Wednesday (29/06). This meeting was conducted to introduce a variety of excellent programs and activities undertaken by Unpad.

During the meeting, three excellent programs were introduced by Rector to the Professors, of the establishment of the Center of Sustainable Development Goals Studies (SDGs Center), the establishment of Padjadjaran SOE Center of Excellence (Unpad BCE), and the program Strategic Alliance Padjadjaran University in West Java (Asup Jabar). The meeting was attended by active and emeritus professor at Unpad. Also attended the meeting were the 7th Rector of Unpad, Prof. Yuyun Wirasasmita, and 9th of Unpad, Prof. Himendra Wargahadibrata.

“These three programs are not separate programs. They are integrated, synergized, and intended to be able to express our various academic capacity more strongly,” said Rector.

Discussion of the SDGs Center was conducted by Director of SDGs Center, Prof. Dr. Armida S. Alisjahbana. In his explanation, SDGs Center was established to support the achievement of sustainable development issues as commitment of all countries in the world. “This is one of the academic contributions in implementing SDGs in Indonesia, especially in terms of strengthening policy,” said Prof. Armida.

Inaugurated on May 20, working agenda SDGs Center still refers to the three responsibilities of Higher Education. Prof. Armida explained that the Study Center focused more on research sector for the development of doctoral education in particular, as well as for the development of community engagement.

Research conducted in SDGs Unpad were flagship research of base line and SDGs Index. Base line and this index, said Prof. Armida, can be used by Unpad academic community in conducting research related to SDGs. Hopefully the research produced in this Study Center to become research-based policy recommendations.

Meanwhile the discussion of Unpad BCE was conducted by Chairman of BCE, Prof. Dr. Hj. Ernie Tisnawati Sule, M.Si. The establishment of the study center was motivated by the spirit of Unpad in being able to contribute in the economic development of the nation. “It will also contribute to strengthen the nation’s competitiveness through its SOEs potential,” said Prof. Ernie.

The study center was inaugurated on last May 9 by Minister of SOEs Rini Soemarno, Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Prof. M. Nasir, Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara, and the Rector. The main purpose of this Study Center establishment was to encourage creation of state-owned enterprises to meet the needs and improve the strategic international expansion.

Meanwhile Program Asup Jabar was conducted by its coordinator Prof. Dr. Dede Mariana, M.Sc. This program was a follow up of the program “Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar” that has been active since three years ago. In addition to opening affirmation program, the program “Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar” through Asup Jabar aimed to participate in improving the development of West Java through academic sector.

“It is also a downstream media research program forUnpad professors and the academic community to the affected areas in West Java,” said Prof. Dede.

Furthermore, the meeting also discussed agenda of the international seminar The 14th Globelics Conference, which would be held at Universitas Padjadjaran on October 12 to 14 next. This year, Unpad was appointed to host the international conference held by Globelics, a network of academics worldwide that applied the concept of learning, innovation, and competence building systems.

“This is an event of gathering intellectuals from various countries of the world,” said committee member and seminars, Miranda Risang Ayu, PhD.

This annual conference has been held 14 times in other countries. This year, the conference would feature the theme of “Innovation, Creativity & Development: Strategies for Inclusiveness and Sustainability”. Miranda said that, based on the registration data, the conference is expected to be attended by participants from 50 countries.

In response to the agenda, Rector expected the contribution of the professors to contribute their thoughts in the conference. *
