[Unpad.ac.id, 10/06/2016] At the beginning of Ramadan month, Universitas Padjadjaran lost one of its best sons. Emeritus Professor of Faculty of Psychology Prof. Dr. H. Sutardjo A. Wiramihardja, Drs., Psi., passed away in Santosa Hospital, Friday (10/06) at 10:30 pm. The deceased was released by the Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, at Masjid Al Jihad Unpad Jln. Ukur No. 35, Bandung, on the same day.
“Today, with deep sorrow, we the family of Unpad say farewell to Prof. Sutardjo,” said Rector in his speech.
The track record of the deceased at Universitas Padjadjaran, said Rector, became an important part in the development of Psychology, in particularly Clinical Psychology, sub-field of psychology as the deceased specification. This was certainly becoming one of the important roles in the development of FAPSI and the university in general.
In the academic field, the professor born in Tasikmalaya 12 November 1938 has produced many academic products in the field of Clinical Psychology, both in the form of books, freelance writing, and articles. Two of his books were Introduction to Clinical Psychology and Introduction to Abnormal Psychology, that until today still become reference books for learning in the Faculty of Psychology in Indonesia.
Dedication of Prof. Sutardjo was also recorded at national level. It was noted that Prof. Sutardjo was active in the Indonesian Psychological Association (Himpsi) and the person who composed the Hymn of Psychology. The hymn is always sung in any formal occasions of Himpsi.
In addition to the academic field, Prof. Sutardjo was also listed as a theater art activists. In between his busy academic schedule, Prof. Sutardjo was a theatrical figures and one of the initiators of the establishment of Studiklub Theatre Bandung (STB), a theater group “Kahot” in Bandung. He was also known as one of the initiators of the organization of Bandung Film Festival (FFB).
“This proves that what has been achieved in the almamater needs to be balanced with what was given by the society. This will be an example for us,” said Rector.
After the ceremony, he would lay to rest in the Family Burial in Pasir Impun, Bandung. The deceased left a wife and two children.
