[Unpad.ac.id, 22/07/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran cooperated with Bekasi Regency Government West Java Province. The signing of Memorandum of Understanding has been conducted by Rector Unpad, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad with Bekasi Regent, Neneng Hasanah Yasin in Bekasi Regent residence, Bekasi Regency, West Java, Friday (22/07).

On the occasion, Rector invited Bekasi Regent to jointly build West Java. Unpad introduced Padjadjaran University’s Strategic Alliance program – Jabar (ASUP Jabar), in which Unpad seeks to increase local capacity in each district/city in West Java, including Bekasi Regency.
“This is part of a great series of Universitas Padjadjaran’s commitment to support the development of West Java,” said Rector.
Also participated in the work visit to Bekasi Regency were Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Arry Bainus, MA, Head of Work Team ASUP Jabar Prof. Dede Mariana, Vice of Work Team ASUP Jabar Kodrat Wibowo, Ph.D., Director of Cooperation Parikesit, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Ajeng Diantini, as representatives of Unpad in ASUP Jabar program in Bekasi regency.
Rector said, in the last 4 years, around 500 students from Bekasi are studying in Unpad. After graduation, they are expected to return to their home area to contribute in improving capacity of the region. Therefore, commitment of local government to support it is expected.
“Make sure they return to their home, because human capital in the future will become an incredible resource, “said Rector.

Currently, Unpad is currently mapping the needs in every area, especially for doctors and specialists. This data will be synchronized with the needs of health workers from the local government so that there will be doctors and specialists from Padjadjaran that can be located in the area.
Re strengthen of Human Resources, Rector also responded positively to Bekasi Regent aspiration to establish a university in Bekasi. Thus, design of partnership and target time should be decided.
In addition, Unpad is also committed to encourage capacity building in local governance. “In terms of human resource development, we are concentrating in developing human capital with concentration of bureaucracy. The existing pattern was for the school approaching the university, this time we do the opposite. The focus is right there in the area. Developing human capital is addressing the region, therefore the school should be in the area. So shall Bekasi school needs it, we will send professor to come here, “said Rector.
Neneng Hasanah also welcomed this cooperation. She also promised scholarships for outstanding Bekasi students of Universitas Padjadjaran. “Thank you very much for Unpad attention to Bekasi,” she said. *
