Cirebon City Government Signed Memorandum of Understanding with Unpad

[Unpad.ac.id, 16/08/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the City Government of Cirebon. This signing is the implementation of cooperation Unpad-Cirebon through the Strategic Alliance program Padjadjaran University in West Java (ASUP Jabar).

The signing was conducted by Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, and the mayor of Cirebon, Drs. Nasrudin Azis, SH., in the Meeting Room of Cirebon City Hall, Monday (15/08). Attending the signing were SKPD representatives officials in the city of Cirebon. Meanwhile, from Unpad, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Herry Herman, dr., Sp.OT., PhD was present.

Cooperation was undertaken to target more on strengthening human resources. With Cirebon as one of the centers of economic growth on the north coast of West Java, Universitas Padjadjaran has committed to help drive the region through the strengthening of the academic aspect.

“Improvement of human resources is expected to contribute to the development of the region,” said Rector.

Initial cooperation Unpad had conducted for Cirebon City was through affirmations program Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar. Since its launch in 2013 Unpad has admitted many students from Cirebon to study in Unpad.

With the affirmation program, students are expected to return to the city of Cirebon after graduation to build the region through academic capacity. “Our hope is for the students to return to their home without hesitation. Often graduates only wants to resides in major cities,” he said.

In order to improve the program, Unpad will enhance this cooperation into a more strategic sectors. The health sector is a snapshot of Padjadjaran University to develop its capacity. Steps have already been taken, namely the distribution of doctors and specialists in the city of Cirebon.

The program is related to tuition fee exemption for program Bachelor Study Program of Medicine and Physician Specialists implemented in academic year 2016/2017. The program aims to rebuild the dignity of doctor’s devotion.

In addition to preparing health-care personnel, Unpad also encourages Regional General Hospital Sunan Gunung Jati in Cirebon to be developed into Hospital Health Care Provider (KDP) III or Employer Health Care Specialist Advanced Hospital. These hospitals are encouraged to become PPK III RS in the region of Ciayumajakuning.

Another Unpad program is to encourage its academicians to be involved with some of the problems in the city of Cirebon and its resolution.

“An important key in the development of the region is the power of human resources. All this time university has been producing human resources. But often our product has not been truly beneficial for the region. Therefore, we encouraged to Unpad academicians to be in the area, “he explained.

Other forms of cooperation are also possible to do through ASUP Jabar program. Rector has appointed coordinators of each City/Regency in West Java as a facilitator. For the city of Cirebon, the appointed facilitator is the Dean of the faculty of Medicine, Dr. Yoni Fuadah Syukriani, dr., M.Sc., SPF., DFM.

Nasrudin himself appreciated the steps Universitas Padjadjaran have taken in cooperation with the City of Cirebon. “Obviously this will result in progress, insight, and adds that during the rapid development has occurred in the city of Cirebon. We are truly grateful, “said Nasrudin. *
