[Unpad.ac.id, 11/10/2016] Four students of Universitas Padjadjaran were chosen to Indonesia in The 2nd ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting 2016 in Laos, 1-7 October. The event held by ASEAN Foundation is a simulation model of decision making between ASEAN countries in regards of current issue.

The four students were parts of 7-person delegation that sent to Laos. The four students are Anisa Indah Pratiwi, Muhammad Arsalan, and Evan Noorsaid (all three are from Study Program of International Relations), and Pradhani Rizky Ananda (German Literature). The seven members of the delegation also consisted of a Faculty Advisor, Lecturer of Study Program International Relations Universitas Padjadjaran University, Drs. Teuku Rezasyah, M.A., PhD.
In a release received by PR Unpad, it was said that 80 students and 10 Academic Advisers from all ASEAN member countries attended the event. Participants were selected based on strict selection of 30 universities in the ASEAN region. Targeted at participants aged 18-25 years, the selection is done on a regional basis where a selected group will represent their country.
In this activity, participants were invited to the role of being one of the director generals of ASEAN member countries to discuss issues related to the rights of migrant workers in ASEAN. This discussion is divided into three pillars, including: ASEAN Political and Security, ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio Cultural.
In the process, participants acted as Head of State, the Minister, or the Senior Officials to conduct negotiations based on three pillars. The discussion aims to reach a consensus agreement.
Prior to the simulation, in September, participants received virtual coaching session of the ASEAN Foundation, as well as training sessions on the Executive Director of ASEAN Foundation, Ambassador of Laos, Foreign Minister of Laos and experts who played a role in diplomacy and foreign relations in order to provide knowledge more about the ASEAN. In this activity, Unpad students won Diplomacy Award. Muhammad Arsalan won this award.
Teuku considered that this was an important activity for students in preparation to build the network. He also assured the Indonesian delegation would easily join the ASEAN delegation others. “It’s become an important capital for Indonesia’s future leaders because they know each other,” said Teuku. *
