[Unpad.ac.id, 8/10/2016] Paguyuban Mahasiswa Sastra Sunda (Pamass) Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Unpad held Pasanggiri Basa Sunda Monologue for students SMA/SMK/equivalent in West Java, on Monday (3/10) to Friday (7/10). This year is the third time this activity is carried out as part of the 52nd anniversary of Pamass. This event was attended by 38 participants from 24 schools as West Java.
“We intend to introduce Sundanese monologue to the community, especially in West Java,” said Chief Executive, Riki Nawawi in between activities.
In addition to performing a monologue, this year competition is also about writing monologues in Sundanese, held from January to March, 2016 and entitled “Kahirupan Rumaja kiwari”. Participating in the competition was 21 participants, and 12 best scripts were selected and then staged by the participants of Pasanggiri Monologue Basa Sunda.
The twelve chosen scripts were compiled in a book entitled “Kuda Waja: Antologi Naskah Monolog Sunda”. The book was launched during the closing of Pasanggiri Monolog Basa Sunda in Japanese Language Study Center (PSBJ) FIB Unpad, Friday (7/10).
“This book is the first compilation of monologue scripts in the world,” said Riki.
Further Riki said the current development of Sundanese monologue is not as good as in Indonesian language. This activity was also held as part of an effort to preserve Sundanese culture. It is also in accordance with the determination of Pamass to continue to be of direct benefit to the community.
“So by convening this event in the future hopefully people can enjoy, people can know a monologue in Sundanese,“ said Riki.
According to Riki, today’s adolescent Sundanese literature is still lacking. By convening this event, it is expected to add adolescent works for Sundanese literature. During this time, the text of the monologue was mostly an adaptation of another literary work and not specifically created as a monologue script.
“This activity is also expected to reintroduce form of theater monologue,” said Riki.
Similar with Riki, Vice Dean I FIB Unpad, Dr. Mumuh Muhsin Zakaria, M.Hum. revealed that this event is an effort in preserving Sundanese. “Hopefully year after year both the quality of this event and the number of participants keeps on advancing,” said Dr. Mumuh.
