Through Research, Academics Participate in Increasing Indonesia’s Health Degrees

[unpad.ac.id, 23/10/2018] The Faculty of Pharmacy of Unpad held “The 3rd International Seminar on Pharmaceutical Science & Technology” in Bale Sawala Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, Tuesday and Wednesday (23-24/10 ) The event was held to share ideas and current information about pharmaceutical science and technology.

“This is one of the activities that shows our commitment to the achievement of SDGs, especially related to Pharmaceutical Sciences,” said Vice Rector for Research, Community Engagement, Cooperation, and Academic Corporation Dr. Keri Lestari, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., when opening the event.

Dr. Keri explained that this activity was also a form of commitment in improving health and welfare in Indonesia. This was also in line with the theme raised, namely “Integrative & Innovative Drugs Discovery & Development in Promoting Good Health & Well Being towards Sustainable Development Goals”.

Dr. Keri added, this event can also be a good opportunity for participants to collaborate in improving research performance.

“This event is also important for Unpad, because it is an arena for our researchers to interact with other researchers to discuss in order to improve research productivity, it can also be continued through joint research to improve research performance,” said Dr. Keri.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Unpad Prof. Dr. Ajeng Diantini, MSi., Apt. said that currently the issue of health and well-being is very important to discuss. For this reason it is expected that researchers, academics, and practitioners can share information about it.

“We now know that everyone wants to live healthy and prosperous,” said Prof. Ajeng.

The seminar is an activity that held every two years. Previously, it had been held in 2014 and 2016. Chairman of the committee Dr. Nyi Mekar Saptarini hoped that this activity can open up opportunities for participants to share information on the results of research, practical experience and ideas of innovation related to pharmaceutical science.

The event presented key speakers at the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution Director Agusdini Banun Saptaningsih, as well as a number of other domestic and foreign speakers.

In addition to the plenary session, the activity was also filled with poster and oral presentations from 198 participants. Selected papers will also be published in a number of reputable international journals. *
