[unpad.ac.id, 12/14/2018] Indonesia holds enormous potential to excel in the digital economy. Not only as a market but a big player. For this reason, collaboration from various sectors is needed to face the challenges and opportunities that exist.

The special staff of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information, Lis Sutjiati, said that the problems in digitalization were not only technology-related problems. National strategies need to be developed to overcome them.
This was conveyed by Lis Sutjiati as a speaker at the 2018 Doctorate Business Issue Forum (Dorbis) themed “Fintech: Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Economy Era.” The event was held by the Student Association of Management Science Doctoral Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unpad in Bale Rumawat, Unpad, 35 Dipati Ukur Street, Bandung, Friday (12/14).
“What we have learned is that countries that are digitally developed have their name as national digital strategy,” Lis said.
Lis explained, to overcome the problems of the digital economy, the government did not work alone. The government involves various parties to find a joint solution. At present, there are a number of government programs to increase the stretch of the digital economy, including increasing the number of technopreneurs in Indonesia.
In line with Lis, Dean of FEB Unpad Yudi Azis, S.Si., S.E., S.Sos., M.T., Ph.D. said that there needs to be an effort to face the challenges of the digital economy in Indonesia. If you don’t immediately move to deal with it, a negative impact will arise.
One of the challenges faced is related to the preparation of human resources. At present, Unpad is involved in a number of government programs to improve the quality of human resources to be ready to engage in the digital economy, one of which is through the Digital Talent Scholarship.
According to Yudi, human resources related to the digital economy are still scarce. One of them is the lack of understanding regarding digital transformation and how adjustments must be made.
“Don’t let us just become a market,” Yudi said.
Besides Lis, Dorbis 2018 also presented Dr. Edi Witjara from PT. Telkom, Dr. Gatot Trihargo, Danu Wicaksana as CEO of Tcash, Dr. Sulaeman Nidar as Chair of the Unpad Management Science Doctoral Program, Marshal Pribadi as the founder of Peivy id. And Yosamartha from Bank of Indonesia. *
