Unpad Ranks in the Top 10 at the 2023 Public Information Openness Awards

[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran already ranks as the “Informative” qualification of State University in the announcement event of the 2023 Public Information Openness Awards from the Central Information Commission of the Republic of Indonesia. The award ceremony was held at The Vice President’s Palace of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/12/2023).

The award is handed over directly by the Chairperson of the Central Information Commission, Donny Yusgiantoro, to the Rector of Unpad. On that occasion, the Rector is accompanied by the Director of Governance, Legal, and Communication, Prof. Dr. Isis Ikhwansyah, and a Public Information and Documentation Officer (PPID) team representative of Unpad.

The Rector said Unpad’s ranking in this year’s Public Information Openness Awards improved and re-entered the top 10. It shows Unpad’sUnpad’s spirit of transparent and accountable administration. 

“This award strengthens us to be more tough, transparent, and informative on working,” said the Rector.

The achievement of this award is a result of all related teams, which have already made significant improvements from year to year. This aims to gain the trust of the public in Unpad.

Moreover, the Rector said the Public Information Openness Awards was prestigious. Therefore, Unpad commits to improving the openness of public information. One of them is to prepare and strengthen the service of transparency in public information at the faculty level.

“We influence the faculty and work unit level. We must be ready to provide more transparent public information services,” said the Rector.

In his speech, Donny said that the Public Information Openness Awards was an appreciation to Public Institutions that had already shown their commitment to implementing information openness under UU Nomor 14 Tahun 2008. According to him, in the information openness era, information is a need that can accelerate a nation’s intellectual process and make changes. The primary vision of information openness development is to realize an advanced information society and achieve good, clean, transparent, and accountable governance.

The implementation of the significant visions is done under Public Institutions’ observation on organizing an open government, which the Central Information Commission does through monitoring and evaluation (monev) of the Information Commission. 

“The monev of public information openness aims to know the implementation of UU 14 Tahun 2008 and optimize the duty and function of PPID as the frontline in public service to the community,” said Donny.

This year, the monev process is done to 369 Public Institutios, including ministry, non-ministerial state institutions, non-structural institutions, provincial governments, state-owned enterprises, public universities, and political parties.
